About the role: We are currently looking for motivated and capable Emergency Services Officers to join the HSS team within Western Australia Iron Ore (WAIO). Reporting to the Security and Emergency Management Supervisor, this role is vital in ensuring that all emergency response activities are performed in a safe, timely and efficient way. Enthusiasm and commitment to all aspects of emergency response readiness and medical care is critical. You will work as part of a dynamic team, bringing an empathetic and adaptable approach to the immediate and long-term safety and health of others, whilst driving and demonstrating the types of behaviour that set positive examples within BHP and surrounding communities. Using your emergency response experience to proactively train and prepare our Emergency Response Team and provide direction during emergency response. Ongoing development of skills and qualifications is expected in maintaining fire and rescue competencies and scope of practice, as well as regular group participation in and planning for training sessions, knowledge sharing and scenario-based activities. Compliance with BHP medical guidelines and drug protocols is essential and therefore supported by active engagement with colleagues, mentors, training resources and our Clinical Governance team. Rescue experience in firefighting, ambulance, defence forces or any emergency service will be advantageous to the success of the Emergency Services Officer role. Location: Permanent and FTC positions across our mine sites in WAIO, flying in fly out from Perth. Working an 8:6 / 7:7 day and night shift roster. About you: This role will suit a highly capable team player who is motivated to collaborate with site and HSS teams to ensure that everyone goes home safe every day to do the things they love. Your positive attitude and willingness to learn is integral to the success of the team. You will also have: Certificate IV in Health Care or equivalent / higher Certificate III in Mine Emergency Response and Rescue or equivalent / higher Collect specimens for drugs of abuse testing Minimum of Heavy Rigid (HR) class drivers license. Technical understanding of risk management and/or operational mining experience Excellent communication skills and interaction experience with personnel, patients, or customer service Ability to make effective decisions in rapidly unfolding situations Please note: We are advertising this position in anticipation of future requirements and may not have an immediate opening in this area.
