Location: Ventia Cambridge Gulf, Western Australia, Australia Deputy Court Security Manager Ventia has an ongoing contract with the Department of Justice and is looking for a qualified and experienced Deputy Care and Security Manager to join the Kununurra Courthouse team in WA. About the Role You will be a critical member of the Management team, providing support to the Care & Security Manager and assisting in delivering an effective court operation. You will support the development of your team and ensure the correct deployment of staff across the region. You will oversee the daytoday performance of Care & Custody Officers and manage custody areas within the court. This role requires you to attend a 6week training course covering Ventias policies and procedures, beginning on 27th January 2026. Your Duties Include (not limited to) Supervise staff in the manned court area Prepare duty rosters, including allocating daily duties and staff Keep abreast of and promote bestpractice trends to ensure high standards of governance, quality and compliance, through regular staff engagement Supervise the handling of Persons in Custody to ensure they are dealt with in a caring and humane manner Maintain a direct relationship with the Control function that manages the operation Liaise with the Court Coordinator on all staffing matters Check all warrants and other relevant official paperwork in your delegated court Ensure that all courts within the cluster are effectively manned Contribute positively to a diverse, inclusive and fair work environment, free from discrimination, bullying and harassment Skills and Experience Certificate III in Corrective Practice Control and Restraint qualified Senior First Aid and CPR or equivalent Demonstrated experience supervising and supporting staff, preferably within a custodial environment Commitment to continuous improvement and customerfocused quality service delivery Thorough knowledge of the PIC court and custody business Excellent interpersonal skills and strong leadership potential Great computer skills for reporting purposes and ensuring the data capture management system (ePEMS) is kept up to date Excellent communication skills to engage with stakeholders, including courts and police, among others Problemsolving ability and initiative Willingness to be part of a wider team operating across the contract Flexible working hours and positive outlook Manual Driving Licence (MR or above highly desirable) Qualifications and Requirements Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills A nonjudgmental, empathetic approach to Persons in Custody High focus on safety and security awareness Ability to maintain a reasonable level of fitness to undertake the inherent requirements of the role Manual Driving Licence desirable (HR, MR licence or F Extension category highly desirable for operating vehicles carrying passengers) Willingness to travel (road and air) Other Mandatory Conditions, To Be Eligible For This Position Australian Permanent Resident or Citizen Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Federal Police Check, Criminal History Check and Working with Children Check Undergo a preemployment medical including drug and alcohol test Launch Your New Career!
