In addition to secondary trained teachers, those teachers with primary school training are encouraged to apply as the classroom model is reflective of a primary school setting. While the College has had a successful recruitment process across the end of 2025 we are yet to fill an important teacher leadership role. The position, known as a Lead Teacher position is responsible for the daytoday leadership of a campus program. The program carries an enrolment of approximately 40 students and the successful candidate will also oversee and directly support four program staff. The role is a teaching role and the successful candidate will be able to work effectively with the small staff team while also delivering quality teaching to atrisk students. The program sits within a larger support framework that includes leadership, administration and students services supports. Role Purpose & Key Responsibilities The Lead Teacher plays a central role in ensuring the successful delivery of the educational and recovery programs of Alta1 College. They: Lead small teams to deliver great outcomes for atrisk students Manage the overall operation of a college campus program Deliver curriculum in line with College and regulatory requirements Provide pastoral care and support to students Manage student behaviour and ensure a safe, inclusive learning environment Engage positively with parents and external agencies Contribute to campus and program development The role requires professional integrity, effective communication, and a commitment to both student transformation and teaching excellence. Role Selection Criteria Essential (applicable to all college staff) Commitment to Christian faith, college values and the highest standards of professional conduct Passionate about supporting atrisk and vulnerable young people towards positive growth and change Essential (role specific) Demonstrated capacity to lead healthy teams to deliver great outcomes Demonstrated capacity to deliver curriculum and support diverse learners Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with atrisk young people Organisational skills, including accurate recordkeeping and reporting Highly desirable Knowledge of traumainformed, inclusive education practices Previous experience working with atrisk and educationally disengaged young people Required Qualifications To be registered with the Queensland College of Teachers Holder of a valid driver licence How to apply If you can see yourself becoming a member of the growing Alta1 team and succeeding in this role then please apply.
