Job Description

The closing date is 01February2026. Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant in Paediatric Surgery at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH). This 8.5 PA post is offered for a 12month period to fill current gaps in the service and support the waiting list. We seek an enthusiastic, excellent clinician to join the department of seven consultants, five paediatric general surgeons and two paediatric urologists. The post commences as soon as possible. Main duties of the job Provide cover for emergency paediatric surgery, including neonatal surgery, on a 1:7 rota. Support service with waiting list initiatives, including operative lists and outpatient clinics. Deliver clinical leadership, specialist advice and multidisciplinary management of children and young people with paediatric general surgical conditions within Childrens Services, the Trust and across the region. Requirements Fully registered with the GMC and have a CCT in Paediatric Surgery or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview. Demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English, as set out in the GMCs Good Medical Practice (2013). NonUK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice. Skilled worker sponsorship applicants are welcome and will be considered alongside other applications. All skilled worker applicants must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years; adult dependants (over 18 years) will also be subject to this requirement.
