OverviewIf youre a capable mobile plant operator who enjoys real hands-on work and wants to trade FIFO rosters for a job where youre home every night, this is a genuinely unique opportunity.McConnell Dowell designed, built and now operates the Adelaide Living Beaches Sand Transfer Infrastructure, a critical piece of coastal protection keeping Adelaides metropolitan beaches healthy and accessible.This isnt your standard bulk earthworks role. Youll be operating plant directly along Adelaides coastline, working in a small, tight-knit crew in a high-profile public environment where safety, presentation and professionalism matter. This is meaningful infrastructure work, not a short-term shutdown. This role will suit an all-rounder, someone comfortable stepping off the machine, pitching in with labouring tasks and supporting the team to get the job done. Initially offered as a 12-month fixed-term contract, long-term opportunities will exist for high performers, including genuine pathways into supervisory roles as the project continues to evolve.As a Plant & Maintenance Operator, youll be involved in both operations and maintenance, including: Operating 535T excavators, tractors and associated plantFeeding sand hoppers and managing beach cell operationsSupporting sand pumping, dredge and transfer activitiesUndertaking off-season maintenance, inspections and manual tasksAssisting with pre-starts, wash-downs, basic mechanical checks and fault reportingWorking safely and professionally in a public, high-visibility coastal environment What you bring Excavator ticket (LE or equivalent) with excavator experience to 35TCurrent Heavy Rigid (HR) licenceBackground in civil, bulk earthworks or similar environmentsWillingness and physical capability to undertake manual work when requiredStrong safety mindset and awareness of working in sensitive coastal areasPride in presentation and professionalism Why apply?
