Senior Library Technician - School Library We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Senior Library Technician to join Iona College and deliver library and information services for students, staff and the Iona community. This is a hands-on role that oversees daily library operations, provides leadership to the library technical team, maintains library systems, and helps create a welcoming, engaging space that promotes literacy and learning. Your Role as our Senior Library Technician As our Senior Library Technician, you will use your technical expertise and strong organisational skills to contribute to an engaging, accessible, and innovative library environment. This will involve: Overseeing the operational function of the library including the organisation of library resources and operation of the circulation desk Managing acquisitions and collection development in alignment with curriculum and student interests Managing cataloguing, processing, stocktaking and maintenance of physical and digital collections Developing and maintaining library systems, in particular the Library Information Management System Delivering high-quality customer service to students, teachers, and the Iona College community to ensure that they can effectively access and use all library services Overseeing integration of research databases, circulation, reserves, shelf management, textbook management and subscription management Leading and supporting library assistants, volunteers, and student helpers Working closely with teaching staff to support curriculum needs, develop resource collections, and contribute to school-wide literacy initiatives Supervising students in the library, including during class sessions and breaks Coordinating library displays, reading programs, and library activities About You You are a proactive, organised professional who thrives in a collaborative educational setting and is passionate about delivering high-quality library services. You will bring to this position: Diploma of Library and Information Services or equivalent qualifications required. Bachelor of Library and Information Services or related field will be highly regarded Demonstrated experience as a Library Technician preferably in a school or educational library Strong technical proficiency in library systems including catalogue management, eBooks, Research Guides and digital research platforms Strong understanding of library operations, LMS platforms, and cataloguing standards Confidence using digital tools, databases, and educational technologies Creativity and initiative in promoting reading and library engagement Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues and the Iona College community Strong organisational skills - you''re a natural at prioritising tasks and meeting deadlines AI and Tech savvy - you know how to utilise software and AI to achieve efficiencies Commitment to supporting the values of Catholic education Current paid Queensland Working with Children Blue Card or eligibility to acquire Why Choose Iona College At Iona College, we value you.
