Appetise is building the worlds best grocery shopping experience, helping over 100,000 Aussies and Kiwis each week discover what to cook and get the cheapest groceries across Woolworths, Coles, and beyond. The app offers recipe discovery, meal planning and grocery shopping with 3,500+ meals and a free user experience. We provide brands with real-time insights into how shoppers discover, select and buy products across the shopping journey. We are a small, fast-moving team of about 20 people in NZ and Sydney, funded by brand revenue, with ambitions to scale. Role seniority: mid level. About The RoleAs our Marketing Manager, you will own the systems that drive user and customer growth, engagement, and retention at Appetise. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you will fuel and maintain the marketing engine across B2B and B2C, building, maintaining and optimising the systems that turn viewers into clicks, traffic into leads, and signups into engaged users.Youll manage marketing systems and tools, collaborate with partners, and ensure we measure what matters. Youll work with Marketing, Sales, CS, Product and agency partners to execute campaigns, optimise funnels, drive lifecycle engagement, measure relentlessly, and deliver insights that inform strategy. You may set up automated email flows, optimise SEO, help build campaigns, and report dashboards for leadership. You enjoy building systems, finding signal in ambiguity, and delivering the to-do list. Key ResponsibilitiesOwn Lifecycle Marketing (30%)Build and optimise email and push notification campaigns that drive activation, engagement, and retention.Design and execute automated lifecycle flows across onboarding, engagement, re-engagement, and win-back journeys.Use segmentation and personalisation to deliver the right message at the right time.Own key retention metrics including activation rate, retention curves, and churn, and monitor trends.Support systems across B2B and B2C as required.Marketing Operations & Tools (25%)Own the marketing stack (CRM, email platforms, analytics tools, automation) and ensure smooth operation.Build dashboards and reporting to track performance across channels and share insights with the team.Handle marketing ops, admin, and the systems that keep the engine running efficiently.Support product marketing for new consumer features, working with Product to drive adoption and engagement.Performance Marketing & Agency (20%)Collaborate with the performance marketing agency to guide strategy, provide creative direction, and review campaign performance.Inform paid campaigns with content and messaging insights from our Content Creator.Track and improve paid metrics including CAC, ROAS, and conversion rates.Support the transition to in-house paid marketing as we scale (potential future ownership).Flexibility to pivot between performance, paid for B2B and B2C as needed.SEO, ASO & Organic Growth (15%)Own foundational SEO and ASO strategy to improve organic discoverability across web and app stores.Identify opportunities, optimise pages, and drive incremental organic growth.Collaborate with Content Creator to align organic content with SEO.Other Marketing Priorities (10%)Conduct competitor research and stay current with market trends and best practices.Nurture the user community, respond to feedback, and engage with active users.Assist wherever marketing needs arise and adapt to changing priorities. Who You AreScrappy generalist with 3-5 years in tech, startups, SaaS or high-growth marketing; strong in 1-2 areas (ideally lifecycle or performance) and willing to own the rest.Systems-builder who loves setting up processes and automations to scale marketing.Operationally excellent, organized, detail-oriented, and capable of getting things done.Data-informed and comfortable with metrics like activation, retention, CAC, ROAS, and conversion rates.Tool-savvy with marketing platforms (e.g., Meta, Google, HubSpot, Klaviyo, Braze, Appsflyer, Mailchimp, Iterable) and analytics tools.Hungry and curious, eager to learn and grow with the company.Cross-functional collaborator who works well with Product, Sales, and external agencies.Startup-ready, thrives in fast-paced, high-ambiguity environments.Outcome-focused, owning outcomes and improving business metrics.
