Outback Spirit Tours is seeking Groundskeepers and Handypersons to join our remote Camps & Lodges across Western Australia, Queensland, and the Northern Territory.If the idea of waking up in the Kimberley, tending to lush tropical gardens in Far North Queensland, or maintaining facilities surrounded by the untouched wilderness of Arnhem Land excites you - imagine being paid to live there, with meals and accommodation included. Our Camps & Lodges operate in small teams, and each role contributes directly to the guest experience. ABOUT THE POSITIONSGroundskeeper:Our Groundskeepers help create the first impression our guests have of our accommodation. You''ll take pride in beautifully maintained landscapes, tidy outdoor spaces, and gardens that feel alive and cared for.Key responsibilities include:Maintain gardens, lawns, pathways, and landscaped areasCarry out mowing, slashing, trimming, and general grounds careManage weed control and support small nurseries or herb gardensComplete daily outdoor inspections and keep public areas clear and cleanAssist with pool cleaning where applicableHelp with minor lodge upkeep and basic repairsMaintain tools and equipment to a high standardFollow safety procedures and keep accurate task recordsWhat will make you stand out:Experience in gardening, landscaping, or grounds maintenanceConfidence operating equipment such as mowers and whipper snippersForklift licence (essential)Chainsaw licenceA love for nature and working outdoorsA proactive, positive, can-do attitudeHandyperson:Our Handypersons are the steady hands behind the scenes, ensuring our lodges run safely, reliably, and efficiently, even in some of the most remote places in Australia.Key responsibilities include:Maintain and repair buildings, fixtures, equipment, and guest facilitiesComplete preventative maintenance and respond quickly to repair needsAssist with fleet servicing and basic mechanical repairs (location dependent)Troubleshoot technical issues and diagnose maintenance problemsEnsure all work meets safety standardsMaintain accurate schedules, logs, and record keepingWhat will make you stand out:Trade, mechanical, maintenance, or general repair experienceBasic understanding of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systemsAbility to read manuals and technical drawingsHeavy Rigid and/or forklift licence (highly regarded)Strong problem-solving skills and an eye for detailBoth positions are ideal for adaptable, hands-on individuals who thrive in remote environments and enjoy varied, meaningful work. Some roles may begin in February, with the majority commencing in April. Most lodges close in September, with select sites remaining open until November.REMOTE LIVINGOur lodges are located in some of Australia''s most remote and remarkable regions. Many cannot be accessed by road - staff are flown in from Darwin or Cairns via our private aviation network.You''ll live and work onsite for the entire season, typically 510 months, without regular access to nearby towns.
