Join an Organisation dedicated to Closing the Gap in Indigenous HealthAbout Us?The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the Southeast Qld Region.The Pamela Mam Health Centre was established in 2014 in response to the large and unmet health and related needs of a large and growing population of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Goodna region.About the Role?The position is responsible for specialist community and primary health nursing services that focuses on the prevention, early detection and management of health problems for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. As a member of a multi-disciplinary team ensure effective screening, service delivery and administration practices are delivered in accordance with the IUIH Model of Care. The role will entail service delivery from designated primary clinic locations and outreach services, under limited supervision, as required.Your day to day duties may include:Provide effective first point of medical engagement including, triage assessments, taking of medical history/detail, assignment of patient, completion of preliminary procedures.Provide routine screening services to patients including blood pressures, blood sugar levels, temperatures, urine testing (routine and pregnancy tests), weight, length and head circumference (in children under three).Assist families transition and encourage continued to engagement with their local AMS throughout their involvement with the Hub.Treatment of wounds and other clinical procedures as directed by the doctor.Attend to home visits with doctor if required.Check emergency trolley daily to make sure all equipment is working and restock emergency drugs.Accurately document client files with treatment and medication information.Under limited supervision store, prepare and administer medication in accordance with unit policy, protocol and relevant legislation.About You?Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD)Current AHPRA RegistrationBachelor of NursingCurrent CPR CertificateDesirable, but not mandatory:Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communitiesWhat Can we Offer?At IUIH we recognise that we operate in a diverse community and welcome and encourage applications from all ages and genders, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, culturally and linguistically diverse groups, the LGBTIQ+ community, veterans, refugees, and people with disability.At IUIH ''Our Collectivity is Our Strength''.We are a diverse and inclusive workplace that invites applications from all people.Be part of Australia''s largest community controlled Aboriginal Health Service.
