Our successful operations are underpinned by superior performance and the strength of our relationships.The RoleWork type: Full time Permanent PositionLocation: Melbourne Custody Centre - Melbourne CBD.About the RoleWe are seeking a professional a experienced Custodial Operations Manager to be part of the leadership team of the Melbourne Custody Centre. This leadership role will report to the Centre Manager and is responsible for ensuring the day-to-day safety, security, and wellbeing of individuals in custody, while maintaining high standards of compliance and staff management. The Operations Manager will lead a team of over 100 personnel and external facilities contractors responsible for the safe, secure, and efficient delivery of custodial & court escort services in accordance with contractual obligations, legislative requirements, Key performance Indicators and organisational standards.This role requires a strong balance of security oversight, operational knowledge, people leadership, and client engagement to ensure high-quality services are delivered in a Custodial Setting.Key ResponsibilitiesWhilst providing operational leadership for the custodial centre a range of services and responsibilities are inherent to the role, these include;Maintain a safe, secure, and humane custodial environmentOversee daily custodial & court operationsManage &supervise custodial staff including Shift managers and Court SupervisorsEnsure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, legislation and industry standardsConduct site inspections and quality control auditsManage inventory, equipment, and supply orderingDevelop & Review personnel placement(s), Succession planning and labour plans to meet service requirementsAddress PIC concerns and maintain strong internal & external relationships with relevant agencies and stakeholdersImplement process improvements to enhance service quality and productivityPrepare reports on performance, staffing, and operationsEnsure compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, and regulatory standardsManage risk, incidents, and emergency responses effectivelyEngage with stakeholders, including Victorian Police, Court Services Victoria, Youth Justice, Corrections Victoria, justice support agencies and community partnersProvide strategic and operational leadership of the custodial centrePerformance Management of StaffContribute to the Training Regime and identify ongoing training opportunitiesIncident management, investigations, and emergency response planningBuild and maintain effective relationships with government clients, regulators, and stakeholdersDrive continuous improvement, innovation, and best practice in custodial and court escort service deliveryAs a leader of the team you will be required to champion Wilson Values, uphold organisational standards, duty-of-care obligations, and follow relevant legislation at all times.About YouStrong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging situations with professionalism. A High level of integrity and sound judgment is required, and all staff will be required to meet the security and vetting standards of the Victorian Police Contractor Vetting Unit Criminal History & Security Clearance process.. Applicants will require the ability to work collaboratively in a disciplined, supportive team-based environment. Any relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. criminal justice, business management, or related field) coupled with experience in security, law enforcement, corrections, defence, or emergency services is desirable. The person we seek has an operational focus, with exceptional communication skills gained working in challenging environments. The role requires collaboration with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders in a fast moving, compliance driven environment.Essential RequirementsAbility to obtain and maintain a security clearance and relevant background checks.
