The role spans the collection and analysis of farm data relating to land use, the collection of soil samples and data from farms, and direct interactions with current and prospective clients of Select Carbon. The role requires experience in Australian farm management and production, including both cropping and livestock systems, a high level of ongoing service to farmers and their advisors, and the collection and maintenance of data according to best practice procedures. The role reports to the Soil Carbon Program Manager.Part-time will be considered.What you''ll be doingSupport completion of feasibility assessments for new soil carbon projectsCoordinate soil testing for baseline assessment and field monitoring of soil carbon projectsAssist in the mapping of soil boundaries and characterisation of soil propertiesProvide input to soil management techniques that promote farm productivity and increased soil carbonMaintain positive client relationships with regular communication and reliable support to ensure compliance of Soil Carbon Projects, and to optimise soil carbon sequestrationProvide GIS and spatial data management for the Soil Carbon teamUse soil data and spatially specific data (including data from remote sensing) to map farms into Carbon Estimation AreasInteract with team members to design soil surveys and generate soil spatial dataEnsure projects are being delivered in accordance with the relevant MethodInterface with largescale farming enterprises to receive and synthesise data sets from grazing and cropping systems, and precision farming platformsAssist in preparing project audit files in conjunction with other Select Carbon staff to ensure timely completion of audits and delivery of ACCUsDrive the process for continual improvement of GIS outputs in feasibility assessments and reporting on existing projectsPreparing and overseeing the development of Standard Operating Procedures, and data management protocols as requiredPlan field and office-based work in ways that give due attention to health and safety outcomes and uphold Select Carbon''s strong values on HSSE and environmental awarenessWhat you bring:To be successful in this role, you will have:Demonstrated experience within the agricultural sector, especially as it relates to soil managementExperience in soil sampling and soil profile descriptionsHigh attention to detail and strong organisational and project management skillsDemonstrated experience collecting, interpreting and using farm dataDemonstrated experience in GIS and mapping, including using remote sensing productsAbility to work remotely and independently Willingness to, and experience in undertaking field workStrong interpersonal skills and customer relationship, both face to face and remotelyExperience with, or awareness of, the ACCU Scheme including reporting, compliance and carbon accounting highly desirableQualifications:Higher Degree Qualifications/lived experience in the fields relating to soil science, agriculture, GIS and/or farm data management-DISCLAIMER:Aboriginal candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
