About the Role:As the Team Leader - Response and Support Program, you will spearhead the daily operations and clinical supervision of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to stabilizing the lives of people seeking asylum. Reporting to the Humanitarian Services Manager, you will foster a "one team" culture across the Footscray and Dandenong sites, ensuring service delivery is rooted in trauma-informed practice and a human rights-based approach. Your leadership will extend to managing staff and volunteers. By collaborating with internal partners to implement housing and aid frameworks and monitoring daily triage lists, you will ensure that clients receive rapid, culturally safe support in areas such as health, legal assistance and food security. Ultimately, you will be a champion for bicultural engagement, embedding inclusive frameworks into the program''s DNA to help clients build pathways toward stability and independence. Key Accountabilities: Operations Management: Manage workflows, priorities, rosters, and day-to-day efficiency of the Response and Support Team across both Footscray and Dandenong locations.People Leadership: Oversee recruitment, onboarding, induction, and annual performance reviews for staff, volunteers, and students.Professional Support: Deliver one-to-one supervision and ensure team members have access to clinical supervision and reflective practice.Service Development: Identify emerging challenges and implement real-time feedback to help develop key policies and procedures.Triage Oversight: Collaborate with the Access and Intake Team Leader to monitor daily triage lists and communicate wait times to clients.Framework Implementation: Work with the Housing and Aid Team Leader to implement the Housing and Aid Framework.Bicultural Integration: Develop, implement, and monitor a bicultural framework to ensure it is deeply embedded in service delivery.Reporting & Evaluation: Support the development of monitoring and evaluation processes to ensure accurate reporting for the Response and Support Program.Culture & Values: Foster a professional team culture of shared accountability, trauma-informed practice, and a human rights-based approach.Crisis Response: Actively support the de-escalation of client incidents and participate in the client incident responder roster.Essential Skills, Experience & Qualifications:To be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate the following qualifications and professional experience: Leadership & Management: Demonstrated experience in people management and program leadership , including leading teams that support complex client groups facing multiple barriers.Professional Background: Formal qualifications and experience as a social worker, case worker, or in bicultural engagement or a related discipline.Supervision Skills: Proven ability to provide professional supervision to direct reports and build a collaborative, professional team culture.Clinical Practice: Deep understanding and experience in trauma-informed practice, human rights-based approaches, and strengths-based practice.Assessment & Crisis Response: Demonstrated experience in psychosocial assessment and crisis response, specifically providing service coordination for refugees or people seeking asylum.Interpersonal & Problem Solving: Adaptive and excellent complex interpersonal capabilities , with the ability to multitask and make decisions in the best interest of the client within a fast-moving environment.Cultural Competence: High-level skills in working with culturally diverse populations and a strong commitment to inclusive practice.Issue Expertise: Solid understanding of the impacts of trauma, homelessness, mental health, intersectionality, child protection, and family violence.Adaptability: Excellent organizational skills and the ability to adapt to a continually changing environment.Desirable Skills & Experience: Lived experience of seeking asylumBi-lingual or multi-lingual (including proficiency in English and identified community languages) in the following languages: Farsi, Tamil, Urdu, Hazaragi, Arabic or Pasto.Knowledge of the policy context of practice with asylum seekers visa categories/conditions, and the barriers faced by people seeking asylum in AustraliaEmployee BenefitsWe recognise and appreciate our incredible staff for their contribution, dedication and passion to support and empower people seeking asylum by providing the following conditions above the relevant modern award.
