Job SummaryAt Equinix our Critical Facilities Engineersoperate, manage,maintainand repair critical and non-critical Power systems, HVAC, plumbing, fire control and suppression, and all site services, and performs all related vendor support in a mission critical environment.This role supports the overall functioning of the Data Centre by focusing onmaintainingand improving the facility''s critical infrastructure. This includes all regularly scheduled maintenance and ad hoc repairs/troubleshooting.The role will be based at a static site inSilverwaterand the position would suit an experiencedControls engineer with a HVAC/MechanicalTrade or Degree qualification.Whilst industry experience is ideal but not mandatory,an industrialand/or mission critical backgroundand experience working in live operational sites willbe highlyregarded.We have a broad and diverse engineering team who work across disciplines, andall engineers work across all engineering disciplines. (Electrical/Mechanical/Controls)We areseekinga highly skilled and experienced withstrongexperiencein automation controls, ideally with a mechanical/HVACbackground.The suitable candidate willbe responsible forensuring the efficient and reliable operation of critical infrastructure systems, including power, BMS (Building Management System), cooling, and environmental controls. This role requiresexpertisein troubleshooting, maintenance, and optimization of complex mechanical and electrical systems in a mission-critical environment.ResponsibilitiesResponsible for technical repairs on mission-critical data centre systems requiring sophisticated analytical problem-solving techniques toidentifyrootcauseOverseesthe site maintenance and upkeep of Data centre infrastructures according to Equinix global standardsActions, triages or escalates site activity in relation to all relevantbuildingautomation systems (BAS) and controls, such as BMS, SCADA, PLC, BACnet & IP ProtocolsMonitor andoptimizesystem performance,identifypotential issues, and implementproactive measures to prevent downtime and maximize efficiency (PUE/WUE)Ensures that all Equinix safety standards are followedPerform daily checks and site inspections of the building and clearance of alarmsCoordinate and lead preventative maintenance, task, vendors, leadrepairsand corrective maintenanceCoordinate and perform critical switching activitiesMaintain workplace safety practices (zero worktime lost) and alignment to approved MOP''sEnsure incidents are escalated and handled according to protocolsReview andvalidatedesign criteria for new principal controls upgrades and installsDevelops training and supports training of other IBX (International Business Exchange) employees in relevant engineering topics and processes1st point of contact for dealing withSY6control issuesand bethe site interface to the AU-controls teamQualificationsExcellent understanding through practical experience of critical facility operations, with a focus on automation controlsStrong knowledge of electrical distribution systems, HVAC systems, and environmental controlsProficiencyin troubleshooting and repairing complex mechanical and electrical systemsExperience withbuilding automation systems (BAS) and controls, such as BMS, SCADA, PLC, BACnet & IP ProtocolsExcellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in time-sensitive situationsStrong communicationand interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teamsProven ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectivelyBenefits of the role:Monday-Friday role based at a staticwith onsite parkingPlay a key role in our Controls strategy across theCampusAccess to Global Ops Academy and progression opportunities within the business (role available due to internal promotion)Salary packagecontainingshares, annual bonus, healthcareallowanceor BUPA private healthcareOnsite gym,free EV charger use,access to wide-ranging company,wellnessand employee benefitsEquinix is committed to ensuring that our employment process is open to all individuals, including those with a disability.
