If you want to spend your days helping impact organisations make a difference, this is the place for you.Learn more at What''s the role?As Today''s Backend Developer (DevSecOps), you''ll design, implement and maintain the backend foundations of our client work from APIs and integrations through to cloud infrastructure, security operations, and deployment workflows.We build scalable digital products and experiences for our client partners. Our work often includes:setting up greenfield cloud environmentsintegrating into existing platforms and ecosystemscontributing to delivery across multiple projects at onceThis is a fast-paced agency environment (not a product role) and success relies on being practical, collaborative, and highly accountable.Just as importantly: you''ll work directly with clients. You''ll be expected to communicate clearly, explain trade-offs, navigate ambiguity, and solve problems alongside clients with care and confidence.You''ll spend your time doing things like:Designing, developing and maintaining backend systems, APIs, and integrationsBuilding and maintaining middleware and integration solutions across platformsContributing to DevSecOps practices that uplift reliability, security, and delivery speedImplementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflowsSupporting cloud and infrastructure work (AWS, Vercel, Azure, GCP and others)Working on systems development and integration projects (CMS, CRM, databases)Troubleshooting and resolving production issues calmly and efficientlyImproving engineering practices through patterns, documentation and shared learningParticipating in team rituals and initiatives (meets, working groups, learning culture)RequirementsPeople who we''d love to work withYou''ve done this kind of work before:You have 23+ years experience as a backend developer in a similar environmentYou''ve delivered web projects end-to-end (not just product-only work)You''re comfortable in a multi-project environment where priorities shift and teamwork mattersYou have strong backend fundamentalsAPI developmentIntegration workDatabase design and management and you build systems that are maintainable, secure and practical.You have real cloud / DevSecOps capabilityExperience with cloud platforms and services (AWS preferred, Azure welcome)Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) (Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi, etc.)Practical secure engineering / DevSecOps knowledge (the kind that shows up in decisions not just checklists)Experience with automation and CI/CD pipelinesHow you work (this matters a lot to us)We''re looking for someone who:communicates clearly and kindly, with both team members and clientshas a strong sense of ownership if you say you''ll do it, it gets doneis autonomous and collaborativecan thrive in a fast-paced environment without losing their care factoris curious, thoughtful, and always learningaligns with Today''s values of kindness and careBenefitsLife at TodayYou''ll work on meaningful, community-focused projectsYou''ll join a team of passionate, inclusive and curious folksYou''ll receive generous benefits (flexibility, events, wellness, great leave entitlements)You''ll help shape a growing business with big ambitionsThe detailsFull time, permanentNaarm (Melbourne) based roleHybrid, with an expectation that the majority of your week is in-studioYou must be legally able to work in Australia without restrictionsPosition available immediatelyOur hiring processSend in your application to this role.
