Launched in 2013, HammerTech is now trusted by over 20,000 construction projects led by over 500+ of the best contractors like DPR Construction, Digital Realty, CRB, and Shawmut Design and Construction to make their job sites among the safest in the world.PurposeThe Automation Test Analyst (Cypress) is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of HammerTech''s web applications through a strong focus on automated testing. Embedded within a dedicated squad, this role will own and contribute to automation tests for assigned modules, working closely with developers and fellow testers to continuously improve test coverage and reduce lead time to production.This role is primarily automation-focused, supporting HammerTech''s strategic direction to move towards predominantly automated testing across the platform.What You''ll Bring35 years'' hands-on experience in test automation using Cypress, with strong TypeScript skillsSolid understanding of test design patterns (e.g. Page Object Model) and automation best practicesProven ability to analyse requirements and design effective test cases for new featuresExperience validating REST APIs using tools like Postman, with a good grasp of methods, status codes and response validationHands-on experience working with databases (PostgreSQL preferred), including test data setup, seeding and teardownExperience working in agile, product-led teams delivering features frequentlyFamiliarity with Git-based workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and automated test executionExposure to Cypress Cloud, parallel test execution, and cloud-based environments (e.g. AWS ECS)Basic understanding of Docker and containerised test execution environmentsStrong communication and collaboration skills, with an analytical, detail-oriented mindsetProactive self-starter able to work autonomously within a squad, manage competing priorities, and drive continuous improvementExperience in a high-throughput B2B software environment is highly regardedKey ResponsibilitiesAnalyse requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria to design effective test coverageDesign, develop, execute and maintain automated tests for web applications using CypressOwn and contribute automation coverage for modules within your squad, supported by manual testing where neededCollaborate closely with developers through peer programming and collaborative testing practicesIdentify, log and manage defects, including root cause analysis and lifecycle management (e.g. Jira)Validate REST APIs using Postman and support backend testing as requiredPerform database testing and validation (PostgreSQL preferred)Support CI/CD pipelines by ensuring automation tests are reliable, scalable and efficientContinuously improve testing practices, frameworks and processes within the squad and broader testing teamWork with other testers to maintain consistency and quality across squadsCommunicate clear, actionable feedback to developers, product managers and other stakeholdersContribute to broader product quality and delivery outcomes as requiredBenefits at HammerTechYou''ll benefit from our balanced work-life culture with perks including:Flexible WFH arrangements we trust youFull LinkedIn Learning licence, with professional development and career mapping opportunitiesBirthday leaveWork anniversary and quarterly recognition rewardsPaid parental leaveGenerous employee referral bonus programTeam Tune-Up WorkshopsMonthly catered office lunchesRegular social events (both virtual and in-person) and employer-funded travelAnnual Town Hall and End-of-Year eventsModern CBD office with a fully stocked kitchen, just a 5-minute walk from Flinders Street StationOpportunities to grow your career and make an impact quicklyHammerTech values diversity and believes that our strength comes from including the perspectives of all kinds of contributors.
