Responsibilities Provide medical leadership to the senior Safeguards Team, supporting innovative, collaborative, and bestpractice, timelimited care for children and young people aged 017 years experiencing acute mental distress. Work closely with the Clinical Lead to build partnerships and ensure seamless provision of care for the population, including a significant Aboriginal community. Actively participate in ongoing evaluation and development of the model of care. Collaborate within the wellestablished interdisciplinary Child Youth and Family Mental Health stream, contributing to teams such as the Whole Family Team and Perinatal Infant Mental Health Team. Assist with the new Adolescent Mental Health Inpatient Unit currently being built, expected to open later in 2025. Participate in a districtwide CYFMH consultant afterhours roster and, as negotiated with the Medical Director, may also include work in other parts of the Mental Health Service. Selection Criteria Registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and hold a Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand Colleges of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) or equivalent; Certificate of Advanced Training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry; current NSW drivers licence. Demonstrated expertise and experience in providing highquality mental health services in a psychiatry setting; commitment to personcentred, recoveryoriented, familyinclusive, traumainformed, and needsadapted principles of care. Ability to support and work in collaborative interprofessional contexts that include livedexperience professionals; sound knowledge of psychiatry encompassing biological, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual domains. High level verbal and written communication skills, including capacity to communicate clearly, inclusively, and respectfully; wordprocessing skills for expert documentation. Commitment to teaching and supervision of medical staff, nonmedical colleagues, and students, consistent with contemporary best practice. Values consistent with a senior medical practitioner providing mental health care across the life span and their social networks; evidence of high ethical and professional standards. Experience in or capacity for supporting quality improvement and clinical governance activities; demonstrated commitment to highquality care provision in the public sector. Familiarity with and support of basic, clinical, and applied research activities relevant to the needs of the Mental Health Service; ability to draw on evidence, guidelines, and quality improvement activities.
