NBMLHD Psychiatry Staff Specialist (0.5FTE / VMO Hours) Safeguards Team Child Youth and Family Mental Health Overview The Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District is recruiting a committed and enthusiastic Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to provide medical leadership to its Safeguards Team. The role is parttime at up to 0.5FTE or equivalent VMO hours and focuses on delivering innovative, collaborative, and best practice timelimited care to children and young people aged 017 years who are experiencing acute mental distress. Responsibilities Provide medical leadership to the Safeguards Team and collaborate with the Clinical Lead to develop models of care for children, adolescents, and families. Deliver highquality assessment, diagnosis, and treatment plans for acute mental distress in children and young people. Engage with multidisciplinary teams, community and Aboriginal participants, and familyinclusive, traumainformed practices. Participate in model evaluation, continuous quality improvement, and clinical governance activities. Support districtwide afterhours roster and, as negotiated, contribute to other mental health service areas. Teach and supervise medical staff, nonmedical colleagues, and students in contemporary best practice. Selection Criteria Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) or equivalent. Certificate of Advanced Training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and a current NSW drivers licence. Demonstrated expertise in providing effective, highquality child and adolescent mental health services in a psychiatry setting. Commitment to personcentred, recoveryoriented, familyinclusive, traumainformed, and needsadapted principles of care. Ability to work collaboratively in interprofessional contexts that include livedexperience professionals. Highlevel verbal and written communication ability, including expert documentation skills. Commitment to teaching, supervision, and interprofessional learning consistent with contemporary best practice. Evidence of high ethical and professional standards and support for quality improvement and clinical governance. Familiarity with basic clinical and applied research activities relevant to the mental health service. Conditions of Appointment The position is governed by the Health Services Act 1997 and the Staff Specialists (State) Award. Applicants must obtain a Working with Children Check (WWCC) issued by the Office of the Childrens Guardian. Successful candidates will be required to obtain required vaccinations prior to commencing employment.
