Practice Information This Medical Centre is a 5doctor practice that combines private and bulk billing services. It has been operating for over 13 years, featuring modern medical equipment and stateoftheart technology. The Practice Principal is an adjunct JCU lecturer, PEP tutor, and accredited GMT registrar training supervisor. It is a training practice with dedicated protected teaching sessions once a week with the GPs. The clinic sits in the centre of the town, 1.5 km from the hospital and 2 km from the main shopping centre. It is adjacent to a pathology and a dental clinic. A team of visiting allied health professionalsincluding a telepsychologist/psychiatrist, exercise physiologist, diabetic educator, gynaecologist, optometrist, mental health nurse and audiologistsee patients onsite. There is a fulltime Practice Manager on site daily. Four nurses support the doctors and run the chronic disease clinic. The Medical Centre also operates a dedicated skin clinic with a HD Molemax and serves as an allocated COVIDvaccination clinic. The main clientele is young and retired motorists, mine workers and travelers who use the Bruce Highway. The practice provides family medicine, occupational health and has the right to private practice at Sarina Hospital. Referrals go to the base hospital and the practice is equipped for telehealth conferences with a dedicated telehealth room. About Sarina Sarina is a rural town of about 15,000 people, located 35 km south of Mackay. It boasts five beautiful beaches, easy access to the Great Barrier Reef, and a range of recreational activities. The town has a public high school, state and Catholic primary schools, family daycare services, and bus links to Mackay for workers and students. Nearby is a coal export facility, a sugar mill, an alcohol distillery, and agricultural activities such as dairy, cattle grazing, tropical fruit, horticulture, aquaculture, fishing and tourism. Daily flights connect Sarina with Mackay, Brisbane and neighbouring cities, offering attractive opportunities for family, spouse and partner employment in Mackay and surrounding mine communities. Position Description The practice is offering a fulltime GP position at a single location, remunerated as a percentage of the doctors gross billings. The doctor will work weekday morning and afternoon sessions (eight hours per day) with an optional offduty afternoon. Saturday work is a 1:4 rotation. Minimal afterhours load Sarina Hospital handles all afterhour emergency patients. Patient load is approximately 150 patients per week. Some procedural skills such as minor operations, skin excisions, curettage and biopsies are an advantage but not required; supervision and training are provided. The practice also manages nursing home and palliative care patients.
