Learn more:www.kwhb.com.au Why This Role Matters This is a newly created role, funded to meet an urgent need: providing therapeutic support to children and adults who have experienced child sexual abuse, and supporting young people who display harmful sexual behaviours. Youll be the first person in this role, shaping how care is delivered not just clinically, but culturally and relationally. Your work will directly support the longterm wellbeing of Aboriginal families in the region. The team around you is ready. What to Expect Early On This role is deeply relational and intentionally paced its not about hitting the ground running, but about building trust slowly and respectfully. In your first month, you can expect to: Spend time onboarding in Katherine, meeting your team and learning KWHBs model of care Receive strong guidance and support from both clinical and cultural leads Travel with experienced staff to key communities not alone, but sidebyside Get familiar with referral pathways, community context, and current service gaps Begin engaging with clients through a thoughtful, traumainformed lens You wont be expected to jump in at full capacity, the organisation values a steady, wellsupported start that prioritises connection and safety over speed. Lets Talk About You This is for someone who brings both heart and skill to traumainformed care someone grounded, culturally aware, and ready to make a difference. Youll need: A relevant qualification (e.g. Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Nursing, Aboriginal Health Practice) Current professional registration or membership (e.g. AHPRA, AASW, PACFA) Experience working with victim/survivors of child sexual abuse, ideally including both children and adults The ability to build safe, respectful therapeutic relationships A strong understanding of the social determinants of health and Aboriginal cultural values A willingness to travel remotely and work flexibly in communitybased settings To thrive in this role, youll be someone who is: Emotionally grounded and resilient, able to hold space for complex trauma Warm and open, ready to build trust and walk alongside others Collaborative and inclusive, working well across disciplines and with community Methodical and respectful, someone who listens first and moves with care Comfortable shaping a new role, bringing creativity, maturity and insight Youll be surrounded by a tightknit, crossfunctional team from experienced Aboriginal Health Practitioners and nurses to social workers. What Youll Be Doing This is a clinical role with a strong community lens. Youll spend about 60% of your time in direct client work, with the rest supporting education, systembuilding, and collaboration. Key responsibilities include: Delivering therapeutic support to children, young people and adults Conducting traumainformed assessments and developing care plans Supporting community education and prevention efforts Building referral pathways and culturally safe healing practices Contributing to system reform, staff training, and bestpractice care Youll travel regularly to remote communities and be based in Katherine the rest of the time, with strong peer, clinical and managerial support throughout.
