This shift is driven by population growth, climate change pressures, customer and regulatory expectations and the need for more mature, long-horizon asset management practices.About the RoleReporting to the General Manager Smart and Sustainable Infrastructure, the Department Head of Strategic Asset Management is an integral part of the Barwon Water senior leadership team responsible leading an asset management practice for a $3.9 billion infrastructure portfolio, ensuring assets are optimised, renewed and governed in a way that balances service excellence, affordability, sustainability and risk. A key focus for the role is to lift Barwon Water''s asset management maturity, including the value and longevity of existing assets across dams, storages, treatment plants and network so that Barwon Water can confidently plan and invest across 50-year horizons and translate this into robust 10-year strategies to deliver disciplined 5-year investment programs.As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the role shapes enterprise decision-making, influences investment priorities, and provides trusted advice to the Executive, Board and regulators, particularly through upcoming price submissions and a significant five-year enterprise capital program of more than $1 billion.About YouYou will be a highly respected strategic asset management leader with experience in leading enterprise-wide asset strategy across complex, network-based infrastructure environments (ideally water, but energy, transport, ports, rail, telecommunications or similar). You will bring deep experience managing large-scale infrastructure portfolios, underpinned by a strong understanding of network and facility assets such as treatment plants, networks and storages. This will include experience in asset strategy, governance, digital enablement, risk management and long-term renewal planning.
