Job Description

Overview The Department of Communities brings together the services and functions of disability services, child protection and family support, community initiatives and regional services reform. The Regulation and Quality Directorate exists to uphold the highest ethical and professional standards. Protecting interests and people within the areas of Child Safety; Disability Services; Seniors and Veterans and those in financial hardship, Regulation and Quality works to assess applications, encourage, monitor, and investigate compliance and build capability through community engagement. The Education and Care Regulatory Unit approves and monitors early childhood education care services in WA and is looking for applicants who are committed to the aims of the Department to protect children from harm and ensure high quality care is provided in early childhood education and care services. The Opportunity This is an open pool recruitment process for full time, part time, fixed term or permanent opportunities. If you are deemed suitable, you will be placed in a pool from which appointments can be made when vacancies arise. As this is an open pool you can apply at any time and interviews will be conducted on a regular basis. The Department will conduct a series of assessments on an ad-hoc basis throughout the duration of the advertised period. Responsibilities Assessment Officer Level 4 As a member of an Assessment Team you will be responsible (but not limited to): Regulating assessments of the quality of service provided by Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) providers, consistent with the standards of the National Quality Framework. Conducting routine investigations, including site visits, to ensure compliance and quality improvement. Senior Assessment Officer Level 5 Undertaking complex and challenging regulatory assessments throughout Western Australia of the quality of service provided by approved education and care providers, consistent with the standards of the National Quality Framework; subject to delegated authority, will determine various levels of approvals. Training and supporting Assessment Officers to achieve improvements in professional standards. Current vacancy There is currently 1 permanent, full time position available as an Assessment Officer - Level 4 from January 2026.
