Senior Legal Counsel | Brisbane or Adelaide |A rare hybrid senior legal role combining incorporated legal practice work with genuine inhouse counsel exposure.MM Legal+ (Mutual Marketplace Legal Pty Ltd, part of the Mutual Marketplace Group) is a small, ambitious independent legal practice supporting the Mutual Banking sector across Australia.Were growing, and were looking for an experienced Senior Legal Counsel, in either our Adelaide or Brisbane office, to play a hands-on, influential role within our legal and commercial team.We deliver high-quality, customer-led legal and risk support that gives our customers legal clarity and business confidence. By putting customers at the centre, we continually innovate, improve and simplify how legal support is delivered.Central to all that we do are our values of Kindness, Ambition, Responsibility and Efficiency.ABOUT THE ROLEReporting to the Head of Legal, this is a senior, integrated legal role offering the opportunity to work within MM Legal+ (our incorporated legal practice) while also providing strategic in-house legal support to Mutual Marketplace.The role is primarily anchored within MM Legal+, enabling exposure to a range of advisory work and the opportunity to help shape a growing legal practice. At the same time, the role includes an embedded element supporting Mutual Marketplace, providing commercial, risk aware legal advice to the Procurement Team and across the business.Your working week will be busy and diverse and include the following core responsibilities (as an example):Within MM Legal+ you will:Act as Senior Legal Counsel delivering practical, commercial advice to MM Legal+ clients (particularly in financial services / mutuals)Mentor junior lawyers and contribute to the development of MM Legal+ offerings and precedentsSupport growth initiatives, new service models and continuous improvement of the incorporated practiceWithin Mutual Marketplace you will:Provide inhouse legal advice across commercial, regulatory and governance mattersWork closely with the business as a trusted adviserSupport risk aware decision making, projects and strategic initiativesSKILLS AND EXPERIENCEThe ideal candidate will be a highly motivated legal professional with the ability to work independently. They will have a minimum of six years/ experience PAE in commercial and contract law and must hold, or be eligible to obtain, an unrestricted practising certificate.
