You will primarily support the Research and Technology teams, leading innovation activities. Your contribution will shape the commercial foundations and successful delivery of projects across multiple portfolios. You will provide critical commercial guidance, ensure robust governance, and manage intellectual property and rights for both the Customer and the business, while supporting the broader mission of the Australian Defence Forces.Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will work closely with Project Managers and functional SMEs across the business, demonstrating a strong ability to partner with the business to achieve desired outcomes.The role is located between Tonsley and Osborne, with Tonsley being our Innovation and Factory of the Future premises. This location offers a unique opportunity to work within a world-class precinct where industry, research, and startups collaborate to turn advanced manufacturing ideas into real-world solutions. You will also collaborate with colleagues across other major cities in Australia, contributing to nationally integrated teams and outcomes.We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.Key responsibilitiesBuilding and maintaining internal and external stakeholder relationships (including customers and other third parties)Provide specialist commercial advice to Project Managers and the wider businessSupport all contract activities including review of business requirements, drafting and negotiation of terms and conditions, and liability risk assessmentsAssess the Intellectual Property rights for new and existing projects and maintain appropriate recordsSupport new business opportunities and Contract and Bid Status ReviewsEnsure the businesss financial and commercial exposures are addressed through appropriate commercial contract frameworks (export controls, finance, product safety including insurance, and intellectual property rights)Ensure adherence to commercial and other relevant corporate governance requirementsAbout YouYou''ll have:Relevant experience that provides a good understanding of the role and responsibilities of a Senior Commercial OfficerTeam orientation with strong written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders at all levels and from a range of disciplinesA curious mindset and ability to solve problems with a can-do attitudeAbility to work as part of a team or independently with minimal supervision, using your experience, judgement and initiativeAdept at building and maintaining excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholdersFlexible and agile with a lean-in approachComputer literacy with intermediate knowledge of MS Suite; familiarity with SharePoint and Oracle is desirableRelevant tertiary qualifications desirableEligibility to obtain and maintain NV1 Government Security ClearanceWe believe in hiring for potential.
