Haematology Senior Resident Medical Officer, Nepean Hospital Employment Type: Temporary Full Time (02-Mar-2026 to 31-Jan-2027) Remuneration: $97,993 - $120,489 Hours Per Week: 38 Requisition ID: CAM27883 This position is associated with Haematology Department at Nepean hospital including the basic physicians training network and consists of medical subspecialty, relief and after hours terms. It is ideal for (but not limited to) candidates considering haematology training or basic physician training in the future. The purpose of the position is to provide effective medical services to patients under supervision, while developing expertise in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment in inpatients and outpatient areas in the public health organisation. What Youll Be Doing Taking a leadership role in coordinating the admission, management and discharge planning of patients seen in or admitted to his / her Unit within the public health organisation, and ensuring that the admission and plans are documented in the medical record. Coordinating and documenting the admission, management and discharge planning of patients seen in or admitted to his/her Unit within the public health organisation. The day-to-day assessment and management of the patients in his/her Unit, communicating with them and their family the nature of their condition and its treatment. Where youll be working Nepean Hospital is a 600-bed tertiary referral hospital located at Kingswood NSW. The Haematology Unit has a large outpatient and Inpatient commitment. The haematology lab and blood bank performs on-site routine general haematology investigations including bone marrow morphology and ow cytometry. Essential Requirements MBBS or equivalent, current general registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Expected completion of at least two postgraduate years at the time of commencement of employment. Demonstrated clinical practice as a registered medical practitioner in the last 2 years in a setting appropriate to the needs of the position. This position is subject to an appropriate supervision level which can be supported by the health agency. If the incumbents registration conditions include supervision requirements, the level of supervision must be able to be supported by the health agency for this role. Valid Working with Children Check, cleared National Police Check. To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy, this includes any amendments made from time to time. Selection criteria Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role. Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills (at the required level of competency) and judgment and expertise. Demonstrated teamwork, time management and problem solving skills as part of a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and computer skills. A professional attitude and flexibility in work role with a preparedness and ability to participate in after-hours overtime and on-call rosters and the required rotations both between services and geographical location to deliver patient care (including rural locations).
