The successful candidate must be willing to work at Nowra Community Corrections. Your role An exciting opportunity exists for an operational manager to join the Community Corrections team in Nowra. Community Corrections is part of Corrective Services NSW and provides supervision to offenders subject to community-based orders imposed by the courts or State Parole Authority. Community Corrections also provides advice to sentencing authorities, both pre and post sentence, to support the management of community-based orders. Nowra is a large multi-disciplinary team that services both the Shoalhaven community on the South Coast, and maximum and minimum-security inmates housed at South Coast Correctional Centre. The team includes a high volume of specialist staff inclusive of a Senior Specialist Psychologist, Co-Existing Disorders Coordinator, 2 identified Aboriginal roles, 2 Services and Program Officers, and an Initial Transitional Service (ITS) case worker. This team, known as the Circle of Services specialist Team (COSsT), provides specialist and complementary support to the broader community and parole-based caseloads at this location, improving reintegration and supervision outcomes for people on community-based orders. Nowra is also one of 6 Community Corrections locations that has a specialist Domestic Violence Community Corrections Officer role, and sustains key partnerships with both community and custodial stakeholders to improve service outcomes. Nowra offers innovation in servicing a high volume of First Nations clients, inmates and communities; with it being a pilot site for the Staying on Track Reintegration A Throughcare Framework for Custody Management and Community Reintegration, in addition to other Improving Aboriginal Outcomes initiatives. What Youll Do The Nowra Service Manager is responsible for: Leading operational service delivery, quality assurance and performance. Supervising offender management teams and interventions. Staff development and supervision. This role has 6 direct reports (Team Leaders), and delegate authority for 28 staff. The role requires strong collaboration with all members of the leadership team to maintain high quality practice and service delivery in keeping with best practice standards. You will also Provide leadership to team leaders and staff delivering offender interventions, to achieve required service delivery outcomes Oversee caseloads, resourcing, workload management and quality assurance to ensure effective service delivery and quality standards Coach and mentor staff, provide constructive feedback and facilitate ongoing professional development through a performance and development framework Identify any issue impacting frontline service delivery or systemic areas for development and work closely with the office / hub Leadership Team to address the issues and implement and monitor continuous improvement What Were Looking For A present, transparent, and consistent leader who works collaboratively with the team showing empathy and strong boundaries, as well as a demonstrated commitment to positive culture, staff wellbeing and leading change. Thorough knowledge and understanding of the criminal justice system and contemporary best practice in offender management within Community Corrections Demonstrated experience in promoting continuous improvement and leading a team to deliver organisational priorities and quality outcomes.
