Job DescriptionThe ProjectThe Alkimos SeaWater Alliance project will deliver WA''s next major water source - A new seawater desalination plant at Alkimos. At completion of stage 1 the plant will supply up to 50 billion litres of clean, safe drinking water to millions of Western Australians each year.The project includes the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the plant with first production in 2028. Works include marine works and tunnels, seawater intake system, a seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant, groundwater system, drinking water storage and pump system, supported by civil, electrical and bulk earthworks.We are seeking an experienced TBM pilot to join our team at Alkimos. Reporting to the supervisor, you will be responsible for the following:Operate the hard rock TBM with a strong emphasis on safety and reportingMust be able to maintain the line and grade of the tunnel whilst operating the TBM.Be a part of the TBM build and commissioningAssist the M & E team with assembly and disassembly of the TBMAll aspects of TBM operation including maintenance of line and grade of the tunnel while steering the TBM, a sound knowledge of segment erector and annular grouting systemsAssist with maintenance and repair worksAssist the M & E team with assembly and disassembly of the TBMAble to work advanced computer systems inbuilt onto the TBMAble to carry out Electronic shift reportingProvide mechanical systems assistance in the instance of breakdownsPerform general tunnelling duties when requiredKnowledge of VMT guidance systemsActively participate in and drive a culture of collaboration, discipline, innovation, adaptability to change and careEnsure safety and sustainability are always front of mindEnsure compliance and adhere to Project systems, processes and standards Required Skills and CompetenciesGeneral Construction Induction (White Card) (Essential)5 + years'' TBM operating experienceHard Rock Double Shield TBM experienceAbility to operate Tunnel Boring Machine and ancillary specialist equipment.Ability to diagnose and assess breakdowns or malfunctioning equipment.Provide technical advice as required and suggest innovative solutions to improve current processesEstablish awareness of surrounding activities to have quick and appropriate reactions of unexpected events on shift.Maintain clear and good communication with team members, supervisors, and subcontractorsAttention to detail and able to handle multiple tasks at once ACCIONA has been given the Top Employer 2022, 2023, 2024 & 2025 certification in Australia, which certifies the company''s commitment to excellence in human resources management and those who focus on putting their people first through their exceptional HR policies.
