What We Expect Of You Prior experience leading Engineering or Maintenance teams in a premium or luxury hotel environment, ideally within an international hotel group. Deep knowledge of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, and energy management. Proficient in preventative maintenance, compliance, and asset protection. Experience managing large operating budgets, capital projects, and aligning engineering strategy with broader business goals. Ability to build high-performing teams through coaching, clear direction, and talent development. Strong change management, conflict resolution, and innovative, results-driven decision making. A can-do attitude with a focus on excellence and willingness to take on new challenges. What You Will Do As Director of Engineering, youll partner with your Assistant Chief Engineer to lead all technical, operational, and strategic activities to ensure W Melbourne is running at best performance. Youll be responsible for: Supervise and lead daily operations, new projects, renovations, and refurbishments to ensure quality execution on time and within budget. Oversee departmental budgeting, payroll, capital planning, and cost control across utilities, service contracts, and maintenance operations. Manage the hotels physical plant including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire safety systems, ensuring full compliance with all local regulations and brand standards. Partner with other departments to ensure seamless guest experiences and support the success of events, operations, and brand activations.
