As part of a collaborative team and reporting to an Assistant Director, you will provide expert support and advice to stakeholders and contribute to the implementation of the departments human resource strategies and initiatives. These roles focus on key areas including Work Health and Safety (WHS), Early Intervention, Performance and Conduct, and Rehabilitation and Return-to-Work.Duties And ResponsibilitiesIn line with the APS Work Level Standards the responsibilities and duties of the roles reflect the APS5 and APS 6 classifications as outlined in the APS Integrated Leadership System (ILS) guidance. Candidates are expected to demonstrate capability consistent with these standards. The key duties and responsibilities include:Contribute to the development and maintenance of the WHS management system.Manage the communication channels for the WHS team (email and hotline) and provide guidance to employees on the queries and questions relating to WHS.Provide informative advice to a range of stakeholders on legislative, regulatory, or procedural matters and managing the resolution of issues and complaints.Assist with the coordination of a range of health and wellbeing initiatives such as seasonal influenza vaccinations, safety month and health and wellbeing week.Manage the process of workstation assessments, responding to incident and hazard reports, and assist with invoice payments.Provide secretariat functions for quarterly Work Health & Safety Committee Meetings.Undertake specific project work in relation to WHS and wellbeing as required.Assist with the development and tailoring of appropriate controls and plans to mitigate risk.Early Intervention AdvisorProvide education, guidance and advice to managers and staff on a wide range of complex people management issues.Actively manage matters relating to rehabilitation and return to work.Collaborate with leadership and staff to actively manage matters relating to performance management, underperformance, workplace conflict, bullying and harassment, and dispute resolution.Effectively support staff and leaders with rehabilitation and return to work strategies.Triage staff related matter in accordance with the relevant framework, applying a working knowledge of the Public Service Act 1999 and other relevant legislation and frameworks to achieve successful outcomes.Rehabilitation and Return-to-Work Case ManagerProvide advice and support to the Director, delegates and stakeholders across the agency, on a range of complex rehabilitation and return-to-work matters, including drafting relevant correspondence, such as executive briefs and section 71 Comcare responses on behalf of the department.Develop and implement strategies, frameworks, and programs that promote employee wellbeing, workplace safety, and sustained performance in line with the departments People Strategy.Contribute to the strategic direction of rehabilitation and return-to-work initiatives, ensuring alignment with APS Reform priorities and broader workforce objectives.Interpret legislation, policy, and procedural requirements to provide accurate, complex advice on health-related matters impacting attendance and performance.Identify and resolve strategic workforce challenges related to wellbeing and rehabilitation, preparing briefs and executive communications to support decision-making.Plan, deliver, and manage complex case management services, including compensation and non-compensation rehabilitation, psychosocial support, and fitness-for-duty assessments.Conduct research and analyse data to inform policy development, program design, and continuous improvement of wellbeing and rehabilitation services.Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including Workplace Rehabilitation Providers and cross-APS partners, to implement effective return-to-work programs and initiatives.Lead and coach team members to build capability and foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing culture focused on employee wellbeing and safety.Monitor and manage projects to ensure alignment within agreed parameters.Performance and Conduct Case ManagerProvide advice and support to the Assistant Director, Director, delegates and stakeholders across the department, on a range of complex employment matters.
