Loram is seeking a Maintenance Leader to take full ownership of maintenance planning capability across our Australian operations. This is a senior leadership role responsible for setting the planning standard, improving maintenance performance, and ensuring consistent compliance and execution readiness.Reporting to the Fleet Performance Manager, you will lead and develop Maintenance Planners across multiple locations, ensuring planning supports safe, reliable fleet performance with disciplined systems, clean data, and measurable outcomes. This role focuses on planning governance, systems, and leadership rather than hands-on maintenance execution.What youll be accountable forLead the Planning FunctionLead and coach Maintenance Planners across multiple sites, performance management, capability uplift, and consistent standards.Build succession depth: identify high potential talent, develop future leaders, and drive retention through strong leadership and clear expectations.Own planner onboarding and training to ensure consistent ways of working and safety compliance.Planning Standards, Compliance & Operational ExcellenceImplement best-practice planning methods and standardise procedures aligned to business requirements.Ensure preventative maintenance programs are built, executed, and continuously improved to reduce downtime and protect productivity.Own planning governance: schedule quality, backlog health, work order discipline, and close-out accuracy.Strategy, KPIs & Continuous ImprovementDevelop and monitor KPIs that prove planning effectiveness and drive corrective action.Lead continuous improvement initiatives across planning processes, machine upgrades, and safety-critical controls.Own root cause analysis governance and follow-through, ensuring actions are implemented across affected machines and fleets.Build strong stakeholder alignment with fleet operations to secure access windows, enforce readiness, and deliver to performance requirements.Maintain clear communication that enables consistent application of maintenance instructions and process changes.Provide oversight and reporting across operational support, technical training, OEM upgrades, and planning-related spend.Maintain awareness of technology and market changes to recommend strategies that improve safety, reduce risk, and drive ROI.Provide month-to-month oversight of maintenance cost performance, including forecast accuracy, emerging risks, and variance drivers.Contribute to annual budget development and in-year forecast updates in line with fleet condition and operational demand.About you5+ years in maintenance / reliability / planning within rail, heavy equipment, mining, industrial, or similarly high-consequence environments.Trade qualification or engineering qualification, with demonstrated experience in maintenance, asset management, or reliability roles within rail, heavy industry, or other regulated operational environments.Minimum 5 years experience in maintenance planning, asset management, reliability engineering, or related roles supporting complex mobile plant or fleet assets.Engineering qualifications are advantageous but not mandatory for candidates with strong trade-based backgrounds and proven planning and leadership capability.Strong working knowledge of preventive maintenance strategies, RCM principles, and root cause analysis, supported by practical CMMS experience.Experience operating within Australian Standards and safety frameworks, with the ability to obtain and maintain relevant rail safety certifications and site access requirements.Advanced Microsoft Office capability (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), including the ability to analyse maintenance data and interpret technical documentation.Work conditionsOffice-based with ~25% field work and domestic/international travel as required.Operates in a global environment (US headquartered), strong communication and structure is essential.ApplyingTo apply, submit a cover letter and detailed resume.
