THE ROLE Were looking for a Senior Tax Accountant to join our growing team. This is a hands-on role delivering high-quality tax compliance, financial reporting, and advisory services to a diverse client base of international companies operating in Australia. Youll work closely with Senior Client Managers and accountants, supporting client relationships while mentoring junior and offshore staff. The role also offers the opportunity to shape process improvements and contribute to the continued growth of ABN Australias tax and accounting service line. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Key responsibilities of the role include: 11. Tax and Compliance (Core 80%) Prepare complex income tax returns for key clients, including foreign-owned and international entities. Review income tax returns prepared by other team members, ensuring compliance with both domestic and cross-border reporting requirements. Prepare and review FBT returns. Provide technical oversight and quality control across bookkeeping, BAS, and payroll deliverables. Provide mentoring and guidance to junior and offshore team members. Assist with bookkeeping, payroll, and BAS return work when required. Support bookkeeping implementations, including Xero setup, configuration, and process reviews. Stay current with Australian tax law and ensure ATO compliance, including transfer pricing, International Dealings Schedules, and thin capitalisation rules. Drive process improvement, technology adoption, and best-practice service delivery. 22. Client Support and Advisory (20%) Provide clear technical support and practical advice to clients. Support the Senior Manager Accountant with client communication and relationship management. Assist clients with understanding ATO scrutiny of foreign-owned entities and international dealings. Contribute to client meetings and discussions, ensuring technical accuracy and professional guidance. REQUIREMENTS SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Degree in Accounting, Commerce, or related discipline. CPA or CA qualification (or near completion). Minimum 5 years experience in Australian public practice. Strong technical knowledge of Australian taxation and compliance. Proficiency in Xero and Microsoft Office (Excel essential); experience with Front highly regarded. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong time management and attention to detail. Proactive, client-focused, and able to work independently. Continuous improvement mindset with readiness to embrace new technology.
