About Equestrian NSW Equestrian NSW invites expressions of interest from high-calibre professionals who are motivated to contribute their expertise to the leadership of equestrian sport in New South Wales. This is a voluntary, appointed Board role for an initial 12-month term. The Opportunity This appointment offers a meaningful opportunity to shape the future of equestrian sport at a strategic level. The Board is seeking an individual who can bring strong professional insight and independent thinking, particularly in one of the following areas: Law, policy or regulatory expertise , including governance, risk, compliance, advocacy or complex stakeholder environments; or Strategic finance experience , with a focus on financial sustainability, risk oversight, long-term planning and organisational strategy. The successful candidate will complement the existing Board skill set and contribute to thoughtful, future-focused decision-making in a dynamic and evolving sport environment. Role of a Board Director As a Director of Equestrian NSW, you will: Act in the best interests of the organisation and its members Contribute to the strategic direction and long-term sustainability of the sport in NSW Provide governance oversight, including financial stewardship, risk management and compliance Support and advise the Chief Executive Officer while maintaining appropriate accountability Champion high standards of integrity, transparency and ethical leadership Skills and Experience The ideal candidate will bring: A strong legal background or senior-level strategic finance capability with an emphasis on strategy and risk, The ability to think strategically and systemically, Sound judgement, independence and the confidence to contribute constructively at Board level, Strong communication skills and the ability to engage respectfully with diverse stakeholders, Experience in Board or senior governance roles preferably within not-for-profit, sport or member-based organisations (highly desirable but not essential), and A genuine alignment with the values, purpose and community impact of Equestrian NSW Term of Appointment Initial appointment: 12 months Any extension beyond this period will be by invitation of the Board, based on organisational needs and contribution Nominations Expressions of Interest (EOIs) should be emailed to the Nominations Committee care of the CEO Vireena Peacock [email protected] and include a brief synopsis of the nominees skills, experience, and qualifications, and how they will add value to the Equestrian NSW Board.
