Services and Programs Officer Corrective Services NSW South Coast Correctional Centre Location Nowra - South Coast Correctional Centre Employment type Ongoing, Full time Salary $99,938 - 110,271 per annum, Plus Superannuation and Annual Leave Loading Clerk Grade 5/6 This position is open to Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only. Your role You will deliver highquality assessment, case planning, and case management services to support offenders and remandees. This includes providing crisis intervention and essential wellbeing support to promote safe, secure and humane management within the correctional environment and contribute to reducing reoffending. You will also facilitate accredited and approved group programs for offenders within the correctional centre and, where required, in community settings. What Youll Do Key Accountabilities Contribute to intake screening, induction, assessment, case planning, and ongoing case management activities, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.Facilitate accredited and approved group programs for offenders within the correctional centre and, when required, in community settings.Deliver health promotion and harmreduction initiatives to support offender wellbeing.Provide individual interventions tailored to offender needs.Respond effectively to critical or crisis situations by offering information, expertise, support, and appropriate referrals.Attend to urgent incidents requiring immediate crisis intervention for offenders experiencing significant difficulties.Support offenders with prerelease planning, including referrals to communitybased organisations.Maintain clear, accurate, and compliant documentation and case notes within the Offender Integrated Management System (OIMS) and in case files. Key Challenges Working effectively with a diverse range of offendersmany of whom may be resistant to changeacross complex custodial and community environments.Managing a wide variety of internal and external stakeholder relationships, including offender families and nongovernment organisations. What Were Looking For Key knowledge and experience Thorough knowledge and understanding of the transitional factors affecting offenders and their families.Demonstrated ability and experience in assessment, case management and intervention with clients with complex welfare and alcohol and drug related needsDemonstrated ability and / or experience in delivering group based interventionsThorough knowledge and understanding of alcohol and other drug dependence and evidenced based interventions. Essential Requirements Relevant tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology, mental-health or other human service fields; and /or demonstrated relevant equivalent experience working with family, social and / or drug and alcohol related issues.Current Certificate IV in Correctional Practice with the necessary Units of Competency for this role or capacity to complete Certificate IV in Correctional Practice in accordance with specified CSNSW timeframes.Current driver licence with ability and willingness to travel throughout NSWAboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons who are culturally aware and responsive to the needs of Aboriginal people and communities (for identified roles only) Note: In accordance with Clause 26 of the NSW Government Sector Employment (General) Rules 2014 and in accordance with Sections 14 and 21 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 the Department of Communities and Justice considers that being of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent is a genuine occupational qualification for this role and preference will be given to candidates who meet the preestablished standards: Documented verification of Aboriginality.
