Job Description

Support handson learning in the MDT workshop, helping students build skills, confidence, and creativity across design, woodwork, and metalwork. About the Role Teacher Assistant Specialising in MDT Ongoing, Term Time Only In this role, you will actively support teachers and students in practical workshop environments and contribute to the safe and effective delivery of handson learning experiences. Assist the MDT teachers in preparing materials, resources and equipment for lessons. Support students during practical activities across areas such as woodwork, metalwork, design projects, and digital technologies. Maintain safe workshop practices, including equipment checks, tool management, and compliance with WHS procedures. Help set up and pack down classroom and workshop spaces. Provide guidance and supervision to students working with machinery and hand tools. Assist with stock control, ordering materials, and general workshop organisation. Contribute positively to a supportive and inclusive learning environment. About You You will be a proactive and reliable teammember who enjoys working in a practical, creative environment. Youll Bring Experience in workshop, trades, design, or technology environments (school-based or industry). Confidence using hand tools, machinery, and digital technologies safely. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. The ability to supervise and support students of varying skill levels. A commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful learning space. Current Working With Children Check and satisfactory National Police Criminal History Check (or ability to obtain). Desirable Trade qualifications/cabinet making or building experience, or previous work in an MDT or similar learning setting. First Aid certification.
