About the Role We are seeking a detailoriented and collaborative Category Assistant to join our Merchandise team at Independent Pharmacies of Australia. Based in Cremorne, this role supports the Category Manager by coordinating a wide range of administrative and operational tasks that directly impact commercial outcomes. You''ll help manage product and pricing data, support promotional activities, and liaise with suppliers and store teams to ensure accurate execution of category plans. This is a great opportunity to play a handson role in delivering retail strategies and gain exposure to supplier relationships, promotional execution, and category management. Role & Responsibilities Maintain product data accuracy, manage new line paperwork, and coordinate updates with suppliers. Support pricing activities including retail pricing reviews and competitive checks. Prepare promotional materials such as catalogues and offlocation display advice. Assist in proofing catalogues and coordinating supplier artwork approvals. Act as a daytoday contact for suppliers and stores, providing timely and accurate responses. Attend supplier meetings, prepare agendas, take notes and track actions. Communicate category updates, planogram changes, and promotional plans to store teams. Support internal communications such as newsletter briefs and system updates (e.g., BIR). Manage incoming queries from suppliers and stores by phone and email. Adhere to health, safety and wellbeing policies and complete all required training. Skills & Experience 1-2 years'' experience in an administrative, buying, or category support role (preferably in retail or pharmacy) Strong attention to detail and ability to manage data with a high level of accuracy. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively in a fastpaced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. Comfortable working crossfunctionally with suppliers, marketing, and store teams. Strong organisational and time management skills. Proactive mindset with a teamoriented attitude. Experience with product cataloguing or merchandising systems is highly regarded. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously while maintaining accountability.
