Your role St John of God Subiaco Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Chief Pharmacist to lead the delivery of comprehensive pharmaceutical services to the highest ethical and professional standards. In this key leadership role, you will oversee the provision of highquality pharmacy services while driving innovation, excellence, and continuous improvement across the department. You will also play a pivotal role in initiating and developing new business and professional service opportunities in collaboration with other St John of God Health Care divisions and external health service providers. Your leadership will contribute to the ongoing growth and advancement of pharmacy services within our organisation. The Position: Assume responsibility for the financial management of pharmacy services. Formulate, coordinate and implement policies and procedures for acquisition, storage, security, dispensing and distribution of medications. Recruit, supervise, appraise, coordinate and develop pharmacy caregivers through continuous training and educational programs. Initiate, coordinate and support research programs directed at continuous improvement, drug utilisation and clinical drug trials. Liaise with external organisations, in particular Medicare Australia and the Health Department of WA with regard to pharmacy issues. Undertake the role of Chair, Medication Safety Committee and represent the pharmacy on various committees focused on patient safety, risk and compliance. Support negotiations with private health insurance funds where medication funding is under review. Ensure the pharmacy is involved in obtaining informed financial consent and the completion of health fundrelated submissions on behalf of patients and VMOs. Assume statutory responsibility for the acquisition, storage, distribution and security of Schedule 8 drugs, scheduled and unscheduled drugs and sterile fluids throughout the Hospital. Advise the Hospital on all matters of potential legal liability in respect of drugs and sterile fluids. The successful candidate will be registered or eligible for registration as a pharmacist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and will hold relevant postgraduate qualifications in pharmacy and/or management. You will bring experience in leading a Pharmacy Department or service at the section leader, deputy, or director level, supported by extensive knowledge of hospital pharmacy practice within a large private hospital environment. Additionally, you will have a proven ability to initiate and direct research programs within key pharmacy areas. You will possess a solid understanding of operational financial management, risk management, and clinical governance, and be confident representing the department at all levels both internally and externally, including at professional and scientific meetings. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills are required, with a demonstrated ability to build effective teams and share information openly.
