This pool aims to fill current vacancies for fixed term or permanent appointments. Employment types: Full Time, Part Time, and Sessional, with the possibility of extension(s).The above salary is as per WA Health System Medical Practitioners AMA Industrial Agreement 2024 (inclusive of base salary, 12% superannuation, and PD allowance). With a $188 million redevelopment underway, our Emergency Department is expanding alongside a brand-new ICU, High Dependency Unit, and Mental Health Inpatient Unit. Were growing our dynamic team to provide high-acuity, 24/7 emergency care to Geraldton and surrounding Midwest communities. As the Regional Resource Centre for the Midwest, we also support outlying nursing posts and small hospitals via our Emergency Telehealth Service.Our blended medical model brings together Specialist Anaesthetists, Senior Medical Practitioners/Rural Generalist Anaesthetists, and Registrars, all supported by a strong culture of teaching and supervision. Inpatient units across the hospital are led by general specialists in medicine, surgery, orthopaedics, paediatrics, psychiatry, as well as obstetrics and gynaecology, working alongside trainee and service registrars, resident medical officers (RMOs), and interns.As a specialist anaesthetist (FANZCA), you will be a key clinical leader, delivering safe, high-quality perioperative and emergency care. Your work will cover the full anaesthetic spectrum, including pre-operative assessment, general and regional anaesthesia (spinal, epidural, nerve blocks), and complex airway management. You will also play a pivotal role in:Supporting acute and post-operative pain managementProviding obstetric anaesthesia, including epidurals and emergency caesarean supportContributing to trauma response and hospital-wide resuscitationEnhancing patient safety and theatre workflow across a diverse surgical caseloadYou will be part of a highly skilled, collaborative perioperative team, contributing to clinical governance, quality improvement, and the supervision and teaching of registrars, RMOs, and Iinterns. In a regional environment, your expertise will have far-reaching impact, supporting a varied case mix, responding to high-acuity presentations, and strengthening care across the hospital and broader Midwest region.Our campus supports an active Medical Education Unit and staff development programs, promoting immersive, multidisciplinary training with medium fidelity simulation. Specialty education programs include anaesthetics, emergency medicine (with active EMET programs), and broader general medical training initiatives.The redevelopment will transform Geraldton Health Campus into a state-of-the-art facility. The Successful Candidates WillBe eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.Have fellowship of the Australasian College of Anaesthetics (ANZCA) or equivalent.Have substantial postgraduate medical experience in anaesthesia in a hospital setting.
