Tassal is seeking a motivated Hatchery Assistant to support our operations at the picturesque Russell Falls Hatchery.This casual role is your entry point into sustainable aquaculture. You will assist our technicians with the daily care of salmon, gaining hands-on experience across various life stages. It''s a perfect opportunity for someone who enjoys physical, outdoor work and is eager to learn and contribute to our mission of responsible salmon production.Responsibilities:Assist with day-to-day routines including tank hygiene, feeding, and general farm duties as required.Support the team in operating and monitoring hatchery systems under guidance.Learn about the various life stages of salmon from eggs through to broodstock.Help maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment across hatchery sites.Follow all safety procedures and protocols diligently.Role requirements:Ability to perform physical work in cold and wet environments.A proactive, safety-conscious mindset and a strong team player attitude.Willingness to learn and adapt to new hatchery techniques and technologies.Ability to work a dynamic 7-day roster, including weekends and potential overnight shifts.A current driver''s licence.Advantageous, but not essential:Aquaculture experienceCertificate III in AquacultureForklift or confined space licences.Role offerings:Acasual roleworking 8-hour shifts, up to 40 hours per week.Comprehensiveon-the-job trainingin aquaculture practices.The opportunity to work outdoors as part of a supportive, close-knit team.A pathway to potential future opportunities within the wider Tassal Group.A safe and inclusive workplace.Company culture:Our people each contribute in different ways, embracing our business values and harnessing our can do safely culture with purpose and intent.
