General Manager Power & Industrial (Energy Infrastructure) MAP is retained to undertake a Search for a listed entity with multiple divisions enjoying strong growth and reputational leadership in their markets. General Manager Power & Industrial (Energy Infrastructure) Reporting directly to the CEO | ASX-listed growth environment This is a rare opportunity to step into a CEOadjacent leadership role within a smallcap ASXlisted company operating in technically complex, missioncritical environments. You will take full commercial and strategic accountability for a standalone operating business, shaping its growth, reputation and performance at a time of increasing global demand for reliable power generation, infrastructure resilience and specialist highly engineered products and services. This role is not about running a checklist . It is about leading a business commercially, technically and with a people & safety first mindset (engaged, inspired, collaborative, growing). The General Manager is responsible for the development and successful implementation of strategic plans, and the day-to-day running of the product line with these plans. This role demands strong leadership and the ability to inspire and motivate staff, foster continuous team development, and uphold a safe, positive workplace culture. Complex, highvalue contract environments where engineering judgement and commercial acumen intersect Privilege of leading a business unit that is a key global player in a growing international market segment The General Manager will drive profitability by effectively allocating resources, implementing strategically targeted tendering at optimal margins, ensuring a rigorous contract acceptance process, and maintaining strong cash flow management, cost control, and risk mitigation. Principal Accountabilities Success in this role is defined by five core accountabilities: 1. Enterprise Leadership & Business Stewardship Provide endtoend leadership of a technically specialised operating business, with full accountability for P&L performance, organisational capability and longterm sustainability. You will set the tone for safety, professionalism and accountability while building a cohesive leadership team capable of delivering consistently in highconsequence environments. Own the commercial strategy across major bids, tenders and negotiated contracts, ensuring riskadjusted returns, disciplined margin management and robust contract acceptance. This includes leading or sponsoring complex negotiations with sophisticated counterparties across power generation, industrial services and international markets. 3. Customer, Market & Industry Positioning Strengthen the organisations standing as a trusted partner in technically demanding environmentsincluding power stations and critical infrastructurethrough senior customer engagement and market leadership. You will help shape where the business plays, how it differentiates, and which strategic alliances expand its global reach. 4. Operational Performance in Technical Environments Oversee the reliable delivery of engineering, fabrication and project outcomes where safety, precision and execution discipline are nonnegotiable. You will ensure operational decisions are commercially informed and grounded in a practical understanding of engineering, plant operations and lifecycle risk. 5. People, Culture & Future Capability Develop a highperforming leadership cohort spanning engineering, operations, sales and project delivery. This includes building bench strength, fostering technical excellence, and creating an environment that attracts senior specialists who want to work on complex, meaningful projects. Team of 20+ About You You are likely to bring: Senior leadership experience within engineeringled, assetintensive or infrastructure environments Strong commercial instincts, particularly transactions with long lead times, contractdriven businesses Credibility with engineers, customers and executive stakeholders alike Experience operating across borders, cultures and regulatory environments The ambition to evolve into broader executive or enterprise leadership Power generation experience is advantageous but not essential what matters most is your ability to lead complex technical businesses and translate engineering depth into commercial success. Exposure to complex, cost and time sensitive EPCM negotiations is highly regarded. Oil & Gas, Gas power generation, and other complex engineering environments will be welcome, where your ability to understand technical subject matters, excellent customer relations, negotiation and leadership skills set you apart.
