Overview Austal is Australias global shipbuilder, defence prime contractor and maritime technology partner of choice, designing, constructing and supporting defence and commercial vessels for the worlds leading operators. The company operates in Australia, the USA, Philippines, and Vietnam. Austal Australia is delivering multiple naval shipbuilding and sustainment programs for the Royal Australian Navy, Australian Border Force, and the Department of Defence, employing approximately 1,000 people in facilities located in Western Australia, Queensland, and the Northern Territory. Austal is seeking a skilled Solution Architect to lead the design and management of digital technology solutions addressing complex business challenges. Reporting to the Digital Services Manager, this role translates business needs into technical requirements and creates blueprints for digital solutions under the Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement (SSA). The Solution Architect will focus on Austals Defence digital architecture, guide development and integration efforts, and ensure alignment with corporate systems and strategic goals. This is a key opportunity to drive innovation, enable data-driven decision-making, and enhance operational efficiency across the organisation. Whats Involved Designing detailed technical solutions that support and achieve defined project goals. Ensuring individual software projects are aligned with overall business strategy and adhere to established technology standards. Collaborating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure clear communication and successful solution delivery. Implementing cybersecurity controls within the broader solution architecture to ensure compliance and protect digital assets. Youll Need Bachelors degree in a related field such as Computer Science or Information Technology or working towards it. 10+ years experience designing and implementing enterprise ICT architectures. In-depth knowledge of solution architecture concepts, including solution integration, data quality, and data integration. Understanding of cloud solution delivery from Cloud Service Providers such as Azure. Cloud Certification such as Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect is highly desirable.
