Our client is a leading Australian independent power producer is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to support a growing portfolio of hybrid renewable, and independent power projects across Australia.The business delivers long-term power solutions to mining, industrial, and infrastructure clients and is backed by a major global infrastructure investor. With a strong pipeline of complex, capital-intensive projects, this is an opportunity to join a sophisticated in-house legal function operating at the centre of Australias energy transition.The RoleThis is a hands-on, commercially focused in-house role, working closely with development, engineering, commercial, and operations teams across the full lifecycle of energy assets - from bid and development through construction, commissioning, and long-term operation.The role offers exposure to large-scale, technically complex power projects, including long-term PPAs, hybrid renewable developments, and remote power infrastructure supporting Tier 1 resource operators.Key responsibilities include:Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex energy and infrastructure agreements, including: Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and long-term offtake contracts, EPC / EPCM and construction agreements, BOO / BOOT and other project delivery structures, Operations & Maintenance (O&M) and asset management agreementsSupporting bids, tenders, and commercial negotiations for new projectsAdvising on risk allocation across construction, commissioning, and operational phasesManaging variations, claims, and dispute resolution on live assetsAdvising on regulatory, compliance, and safety-related matters relevant to power generation and remote operationsManaging and coordinating external counsel where requiredActing as a trusted legal advisor to senior commercial and operational stakeholdersThe CandidateThe ideal candidate will have 612 years post-admission experience (PAE) gained in a respected law firm and/or in-house role, with a strong grounding in construction, energy, infrastructure, or major projects law.Key attributesDemonstrated capability to draft, review, and negotiate construction and commercial contracts.Strong understanding of project delivery, contract strategy, and risk allocation.Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organisation.A commercial and solutions-driven mindset, with the confidence to provide pragmatic advice.High attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively.To ApplyFor a confidential discussion, please contact Nathan Aron, Associate Director, on 0419 511 439, or email your CV to [email protected] #J-18808-Ljbffr
