Overview Community Support Worker - Residential Part-Time 12 hours per weekSalary: $23.50-$29.10 per hourLocation: Wellington City This role is to support young men who are moving to a house in Hataitai. We provide 24/7 support, so you would be required to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends and sleepovers. The flatmates are active social people who enjoy dancing, singing, performing and going to sports events. They value social roles within the community and are keen to create new things, including woodwork projects that they sell and display at markets. You will need to gain trust and confidence not only from the men but also from their families, and work in a respectful partnership with them. We welcome applicants who are great communicators, transparent, supportive and understanding. The ideal staff member will be vibrant, fun, self-motivated and innovative, a good listener who can help the men understand and process their feelings, and someone committed to helping them take the lead in their own lives. Part of your role will be to support them to maintain and extend their social networks and skills and keep exploring what the world has to offer. Youll be there to support them through challenges, knowing when to step in and when to step back. Youll also assist them with other priorities, such as finding more opportunities for work. They currently have part-time work in retail and grounds keeping at a local school. They already have independence skills and will need your help to use those skills and further develop budgeting, healthy cooking and day-to-day living tasks. All three men are social and busy, so the ideal candidate should be very sociable, proactive and able to show initiative.
