The Aboriginal Education Officer acts as a key connection between Indigenous students, their families, the school, and the wider community. This role provides cultural, educational, and pastoral support to ensure every Indigenous student is given the opportunity to thrive academically and personally.Key responsibilities include:Building strong connections with First Nations families and welcoming new families into the school community.Supporting the development and implementation of Personalised Learning Plans (PLPs).Promoting and celebrating Aboriginal culture across the whole school.Assisting with literacy and numeracy support for Aboriginal students, both in class and in small group/individual settings.Encouraging regular attendance, supporting transitions, and exploring career pathways with students.Providing pastoral care, encouragement, and guidance to Aboriginal students.Working alongside teachers and school leadership to ensure culturally inclusive learning experiences.The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:Confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage.A strong commitment to the philosophy and values of Catholic Education, including social justice, equity, and reconciliation.Ability to engage positively with students in a school and classroom setting.Sound skills in literacy and numeracy to assist students.Ability to work independently.Experience in engaging families and community, including in challenging situations.Knowledge of educational issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.Strong connections with the local Aboriginal community.A commitment to promoting and celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture within the school.Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.Why Work with Us?Salary packaging and novated leasing to maximise your income potential.Access to learning, development, and leadership opportunities in a supportive environment.Celebrate and share Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture across the school community.Work in a collaborative and supportive environment alongside teachers and school leaders.Responsible for 33 schools, approximately 9,600 students and 1,700 staff, Catholic Education Diocese of Bathurst (CEDB) is encompassed by the Blue Mountains, Warrumbungle Ranges, the Pilliga, Macquarie River, Lachlan River, Abercrombie River and the Jenolan State Forest.
