The OpportunityWeed Control AssistantOur Recreation Team is seeking an experienced Weed Control Assistant to join our horticulture team. Our Weed Control Assistants assist our Recreational department in protecting and maintaining Council''s natural areas, rights of way, recreation and open spaces and reserves through the treatment and control of priority and environmental weeds. They are responsible for applying effective control measures including identification of weeds and applying appropriate control measures including the use of appropriate pesticides and chemical treatments when necessary. They also support the community by responding to enquiries, inspecting private and public land when required for the presence of priority weeds and will operate plant and equipment for appropriate control measures.About youTo be successful in this position, you will possess knowledge and experience in:You will hold a Certificate III in Conservation and Land management or equivalent discipline, coupled with demonstrated contemporary experience and knowledge in the identification of priority weeds and appropriate treatmentExperience using plant and equipment including spray equipmentAQF3 Chemical Use CertificationCurrent C Class Drivers licenceYou will have strong problem-solving skills, and an ability to work productively as a team memberPreferred qualificationsWorking knowledge of the Biosecurity Act 2015 and other relevant legislationTraffic control ticketsNSW Maritime general boat licenceChainsaw operators ticketBenefitsThis is a permanent full-time role, working 38 hours per week with a base salary range of $63,127 up to $70,071 per year based on demonstrated competencies plus allowances plus 12% p.a. super.Council also offers a range of other benefits for its employees including:Ongoing training and development opportunitiesAccess to our Healthy Employee Program (HEP): including reduced gym memberships and subsidies for programs that improve health and wellbeingLong Service Leave after five yearsRostered day off monthlyQuestionsIf after reading the role charter you have any questions, contact Robert Eyre, Team Leader Recreation Works - Weeds on 0427 495 458.Applications close: Sunday 22 February 2026Please note, prior to an offer of employment being made, recommended candidates will be required to undertake a medical assessment (including drug and alcohol testing).
