Add expected salary to your profile for insightsOverviewApex Building Products in Bendigo is seeking an experienced Production Manager to oversee all aspects of our manufacturing operations. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production while meeting customer demand, delivery timeframes, and business targets.The Production Manager will plan, organise, and coordinate daily production activities, lead and develop the production team, manage resources effectively, and drive safety and continuous improvement across the factory.ResponsibilitiesProduction Planning & Scheduling: Develop production plans and schedules to meet customer demand and production targets. Coordinate with sales, inventory, and procurement teams to ensure availability of materials and resources for production.Resource Management: Manage production staff, including hiring, training, and performance management, to ensure a skilled and motivated workforce. Allocate resources, including manpower, equipment, and materials, to optimize production efficiency and minimize downtime.Quality Assurance: Implement and enforce quality control measures and standards to ensure product quality and compliance with specifications. Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and address quality issues and non-conformities.Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the production process. Implement best practices, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and lean manufacturing principles to streamline operations and reduce waste.Health and Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and standards in the production environment. Promote a culture of safety awareness and adherence to safety protocols among production staff. Investigate incidents and near misses, implementing preventative actions where required.Production Reporting and Analysis: Monitor production performance, including output, efficiency, and quality metrics, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to senior management. Analyse production data to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and areas of concern.Skills & experience5+ years of experience in a Production Manager or Manufacturing Supervisor role, ideally within building products, steel, or manufacturing environmentsStrong leadership skills with demonstrated experience managing and developing production teams.Solid understanding of production planning, scheduling, and inventory coordination.Experience implementing quality systems, SOPs, and continuous improvement initiatives.Strong knowledge of WHS requirements in a manufacturing environment.Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.Trade or technical background and/or formal qualifications in manufacturing, engineering, or operations management (desirable).Conditions & BenefitsFull-time permanent position, Monday to FridayExcellent career opportunity with growth potentialJoin a dynamic achievement driven teamStrong company with a secure and growing futureAbout the companyApex Building Products is part of Apex Steel Group, one of Australia''s largest privately owned steel manufacturers & distributors.
