It has a rich history, serving originally as Brisbane''s primary and international airport and later as a base during WWII. In 1998, the airport was privatised under a 99-year lease from the Commonwealth Government.Today, the airport operates as Queensland''s largest General Aviation hub and Brisbane''s Metropolitan airport. Archerfield Airport Corporation (AAC) is modernising the airport by building the foundations for future growth through several projects including airside and landside civil infrastructure, hangar developments and other non-aviation related commercial and industrial buildings.With the recent completion of our $20 million Airside Infrastructure Modernisation (Project AIM), AAC is now progressing a range of expansion and development initiatives that build on this critical investment.About the opportunityAt this time of significant expansion and development, we are excited to be commencing our search for a qualified environment & safety expert, ambitious to take the next step in their aviation career.Reporting into the newly appointed General Manager Airport Operations, the Airport Environment and Safety Advisor will be responsible for the management and delivery of several key functions within the Environment & Safety portfolio. The successful candidate will employ their substantial subject matter expertise, to provide guidance and hands on support to ensure Archerfield Airport Corporation (AAC) meets its environmental and workplace health and safety obligations. The role is primarily compliancefocused, while also leading sustainability initiatives and strategy that reinforce AAC''s reputation as a national leader in general aviation and a responsible member of the Brisbane business community.As a federally leased airport, AAC carries responsibilities under the Airports Act 1996 and related legislation.What you will be doingLead environmental compliance activities, including AES oversight, regulatory reporting, and EMS management.Maintain strong relationships with regulators and manage all environmental correspondence.Oversee hazardous goods and industrial chemical compliance and identify emerging regulatory requirements.Support environmental data management, analysis, and KPI reporting.Respond to environmental incidents, spills, and complaints, and coordinate investigations and corrective actions.Manage PFAS, fire ants, weeds, wildlife, waste, heritage, flora/fauna, and asbestosrelated environmental risks.Deliver groundwater, surface water, and noise monitoring programs and associated reporting.Environmental SustainabilityImplement AAC''s sustainability strategy, including climate resilience and transitional climate risk initiatives.Support projects that strengthen the airport''s ability to maintain operations under changing climate conditions.Property & Infrastructure SupportProvide environmental advice for infrastructure and building projects, including review of technical documentation.Conduct environmental inspections, audits, and endoflease assessments for tenants and third parties.Support compliance with environmental lease requirements and assist tenants with OEMP development.Promote environmental best practice with tenants, contractors, and stakeholders.Workplace Health & SafetySupport WHS legislative compliance, hazard reporting, and continuous improvement of the Safety Management System.Collaborate with airport operations to align aviation, workplace, and public safety responsibilities.Prepare WHS reporting for management and the Board and contribute to a positive safety culture.Additional to the day-to-day responsibilities, this role will also have the opportunity to contribute to initiatives which will improve environmental compliance, sustainability and risk reduction.
