This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who takes pride in quality pipe installation and enjoys mentoring others on site.About the RoleAs a Senior Pipe layer, you will be responsible for overseeing and delivering the installation of underground sewer, water and storm water services. You will work closely with supervisors and foremen to ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with project specifications and drawings.The role involves reading and interpreting plans, setting out and grading trenches, installing and aligning pipes, joining and sealing pipework, overseeing testing activities and coordinating back filling and compaction. You will also provide guidance and supervision to junior crew members, ensuring quality standards and safety requirements are consistently met on site.Key ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible for the installation of PVC and concrete pipes for drainage, water and sewer systems, ensuring correct bedding, alignment and fall. The role includes trench excavation using both manual and mechanical methods, fine grading of trench bottoms, joining and sealing pipes using appropriate techniques, and carrying out leak detection or pressure testing as required. You will also oversee back filling and reinstatement works and actively contribute to maintaining a safe and productive work environment.About YouYou will bring proven experience as a Senior Pipe layer or Pipe layer within civil construction, ideally with five or more years in a similar role. You will have a strong understanding of levels, grades and pipe-laying techniques, along with the ability to confidently read and interpret construction drawings. Sound safety knowledge, a strong work ethic and the ability to lead by example are essential.
