Job Description

Purpose of the Role:CHIRF (Community Health, Infrastructure and Resilience Fund) Inc. is a Mallacoota-based charity focused on improving local health and wellbeing. Since 2016, they''ve supported essential medical services, helped recruit doctors and delivered a modern medical centre for the community. They''re now expanding their impact through a new Ageing at Home service and a federally funded $2M Wellness Centre project, due for completion in 2027. CHIRF is also preparing to merge with another local charity under the new community brand Mallacoota Cares. To support this transition, they are refreshing their websites and require copywriting support to tell their story clearlycapturing their history, upcoming changes, current projects and key updates for stakeholders and funders. Some content will require Federal Government approval under our Play Our Way grant. This project will need to collaborate with another ABV volunteer (website developer) who will lead the upgrade of the website. The successful volunteer will prepare a written communications package for telling the story of CHIRF and their upcoming projects while honouring the organisations significant past successes.The deliverables of this Assignment are to create a series of key communication documents to clearly tell the story of CHIRF, the amalgamating partner, the brand name Mallacoota Cares, and their work, including:Website content: the Mallacoota Cares website will be consumer focused and the CHIRF website will be redesigned to focus on external stakeholders and fundersAnnouncement of new Wellness CentreAnnouncement of upcoming organisational changesFuture fundraising opportunitiesSelection Criteria:EssentialExcellent written communication and storytelling skillsExcellent proof-reading skillsWillingness to provide edits as requested by CHIRF or Federal Government representatives.DesirableExperience writing for website contentExperience working with the NFP sector and/ or understanding of volunteer-led organisationsUnderstanding of small rural or remote communitiesPrerequisites for undertaking volunteering assignments:To register with ABV (if not already registered):At least 5 years relevant professional experienceYou must be an Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident residing in Australia. Australian Citizens residing overseas may be considered on a case by case basis.Willingness to complete a police check and Working With Children CheckWillingness to be interviewed and have references checkedOnce you have passed registration phase:Willingness to interview for the role with ABV program staffAcceptable police check and Working with Children Check before commencementSign the ABV Letter of Agreement (Code of Conduct, etc)Medical check (external and ABV), compliance with all travel, entry and in-country requirements (where required).You are expected to abide by any COVID regulations of the destination country or the partner organisation with whom you may work.
