This handson role involves performing mechanical repairs, diagnostics, and maintenance on a variety of vehicles while maintaining high standards of safety, workmanship, and customer service.Key ResponsibilitiesVehicle Diagnosis and RepairDiscuss problems with car drivers or vehicle operators to identify faults; listen to engines, use diagnostic equipment, and test drive vehicles to confirm issuesIdentify problems, determine causeandeffect relationships, and evaluate information from various sources to select the best repair approachComplete vehicle details on requisition orders (e.g. kilometres, engine number, registration number)Repair or replace worn and faulty parts by removing and dismantling assemblies such as engines, transmissions, differentials, or steering gearReassemble, clean, test, and adjust repaired or replaced parts using the appropriate tools and equipmentPerform preventive maintenance checks on brakes, steering, suspension, fluid levels, electrical systems, and cooling systemsTune engines using diagnostic equipment and adjust carburettor or fuel injection systems for optimal performanceDiagnose, repair, and replace engine management and fuel injection componentsCarry out minor body and trim repairsUse oxy, electric, and MIG welders as requiredTyre and Alignment ServicesInspect tyres and related components and select tyres and rims appropriate for different vehiclesDrive vehicles onto hoists or jacks for tyre and mechanical workChange or repair tyres, balance wheels, and perform wheel alignmentsCheck and service steering systems and suspensionIdentify and interpret tyre and rim regulations and conduct postalignment checksAdvise customers on tyre selection, repairs, and costsTestdrive vehicles to diagnose or verify repairsHandle tyre sales transactions and paymentsReceive, check, and shelve new tyres and partsWorkshop Maintenance and SafetyMaintain the presentation and cleanliness of the service areaKeep tools and equipment clean, organised, and returned to designated locationsEnsure hazardous substances are stored and disposed of safelyFollow occupational health and safety (OHS) standards and procedures at all timesSupervise apprentices when requiredSkills and ExperienceCertificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent qualification)Current Australian driver''s licenceStrong diagnostic and mechanical repair skillsExperience with tyres, balancing, and wheel alignments preferredAbility to work independently and within a team environmentExcellent attention to detail and commitment to qualityGood communication and customer service skillsWhy Join UsCompetitive pay rate based on experienceSupportive, teamoriented workshop environmentOngoing training and professional development opportunitiesWellequipped modern workshopBe part of a locally owned business with strong community values #J-18808-Ljbffr
