This role is ideally based in Osborne (SA), Melbourne (VIC), or Cairns (QLD). If you are based outside of Adelaide, occasional travel to Osborne may be required. You will work within the team on mechanical systems, specifically fire suppression systems. Previous experience with fixed firefighting systems, demonstrated AutoCAD experience, and excellent communication skills are important.ResponsibilitiesDevelop mechanical fire suppression system equipment to meet established requirements, including participating in design reviewsDevelop optimised fire suppression systems and/or equipment detail designs and present the designs in design reviewsSupport translation of the fire suppression systems and/or equipment design into a manufacturable solution and incorporate changes as requiredUndertake the integration and validation of the fire suppression systems and/or equipment design, including contributing to integration and validation plans and reportsSupport fire suppression systems and/or equipment qualification activities to ensure the product meets all requirements including safety and regulatory requirementsWork ArrangementsWe embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as a 9-day fortnight and/or hybrid working.About YouBachelor''s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering or Aerospace Engineering. Experience in maritime may be considered suitable in lieu of a degreeExperience in a maritime/marine defence environment would be highly advantageousA strong background in the design, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fixed fire fighting systemsDemonstrated experience using AutoCADExcellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement and documentation writingA current NV1 Clearance or eligibility to obtainEligibility to be cleared for International Traffic in Arms (ITAR) regulationsWe believe in hiring for potential, we know that some candidates hesitate if they don''t tick all the boxes.
