Joining our team will give you the opportunity to showcase your customer service skills, deliver creative programs, and build genuine connections with children, families, and the wider community.About the roleThe Collections and Acquisitions Librarian is a key role in our collections team, delivering high-quality collections support and services across all of our libraries, as well as our digital library.Key responsibilities include:Supporting the ordering and processing of library materialsWorking closely with external suppliers to ensure timely and relevant supply of library materialsMaintaining relevant documentation and working with suppliers to make sure shelf-ready stock is processed and catalogued to our documented standardsMonitoring usage of digital library platforms, and curating digital content to meet the needs of the communityOriginal cataloguing of library materials as requiredWorking with the wider library teamParticipating in industry networks to keep abreast of best practices and new productsMentoring and supporting library staff to enhance engagement with library collectionsActing as Officer in Charge when required, overseeing day-to-day library operationsProviding information services including reader advisory and information retrievalSupporting customer use of technology and library systems, including troubleshooting and general IT assistanceUndertaking a broad range of library duties as requiredAbout youTo be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:Ability to work in accordance with Brimbank Libraries'' values and behavioursEligibility for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), or relevant qualifications with demonstrated cataloguing experience and working with library acquisitionsProven experience in delivering customer service excellence in a high-volume environmentProven experience in developing library collections both physical and digital.Strong knowledge and experience in cataloguing and acquisitionsAbility to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholdersAbility to engage with people of all backgrounds and ages, manage high levels of public interaction, and supervise staff effectivelyStrong knowledge of library online resources, computer equipment, mobile devices, and emerging technologies, with the ability to troubleshoot IT issuesResilience, adaptability, and a proactive mindset to drive positive outcomes in dynamic environmentsAbility to manage difficult situations, resolve problems, and diffuse potential conflict constructivelyHow to applyAll applications must respond to the key selection criteria as listed in the position description and be submitted within the indicated closing date of this advertisement.
